MoMI to Screen Five Films Featuring Zoe Bell, 1/7

Zoë Bell, the international action icon discovered by Quentin Tarantino, will appear at Museum of the Moving Image with a preview screening of her new film Raze, on Tuesday, January 7, 2014. In this exciting and relentlessly hyperviolent action film directed by Josh Waller, she stars as a woman forced to do battle with other innocents for the amusement of unseen spectators. Leading in to this special screening and appearance, the Museum will also present a retrospective of her work—chronicling her transformation from stuntwoman to star—in the films Whip It, Death Proof, and Kill Bill: Vol. 1 and Kill Bill: Vol. 2 on January 4 and 5. Museum of the Moving Image's ongoing series See It Big! presents classic and contemporary films on the big screen in the beautiful Sumner M. Redstone Theater. In November and December, the Museum will showcase 22 films photographed by some of the world's greatest cinematographers, including Gordon Willis, Vittorio Storaro, Vilmos Zsigmond, Nestor Almendros, Raoul Coutard, James Wong Howe, and more. The series, See It Big!: Great Cinematographers, runs from November 8 through December 29, 2013.

Actor/sword fighters Jacqueline Ann Holloway and Robert Westley will be joining NYCB dancers Jared Angle and Megan LeCrone and members of the Sebastians Chamber Orchestra for On Point: From Duel to Pas de Deux, to be presented by Salon/Sanctuary Concerts. An exploration of the shared origins of sword fighting and ballet, On Point will be presented on Monday June 3rd at The Liederkranz Club at 7:00PM. Musical selections will include Heinrich Ignaz von Biber (1644 - 1704)Battaglia a 10 in D Major; Johann Heinrich Schmelzer (1620 - 1680) Balletto for Strings and Continuo in G 'Die Fechtschule' and GF Handel (1685 - 1759), Sonata in B-flat, Op. 2, No. 3, HWV 388.

As part of the studio's 90th Anniversary celebration, eight of Warner Bros. Pictures' greatest gangster films - from Edward G. Robinson's 1931 classic Little Caesar to Martin Scorsese's Oscar-winning masterpiece The Departed[1] -- will now be available in two Blu-ray sets May 21. Released to coincide with Father's Day gift-giving, the WB genre greats, along with one of Paramount's best gangster films, will be offered in the Ultimate Gangster Collection: Classic and Ultimate Gangster Collection: Contemporary.
