Resilience is defined as the ability of the human being to adapt positively to adversity. Recently the term is also assigned to the community and cultural process that responds to variables of compensation, protection, and challenge. Resilience is what 'Pegame más Fuerte,' the newest single from 'Suenan las alarmas,' the most recent and acclaimed album of Uruguayan band and Latin Grammy Nominees 'No te va gustar (Popart Discos) conveys. It is an energetic rock imprinted song, within the conceptual framework of an album that questions the context of international, social, political and personal uncertainty that crosses the world, through a handful of songs that seek to propose a refuge to protect the spirit and the heart. In this original studio version, the song counts with the guest participation of Herbert Vianna (guitarist and vocal lead for Os Paralamas do Sucesso).

Chamber Orchestra To Present Pioneering Female Composer, Performer, And Improviser Martha Mooke

The Chamber Orchestra of Philadelphia (COP) continues our Improvisionaries season presenting trailblazing composer and electric violist, Martha Mooke.  COP's fifth series program at the Kimmel Center, Mozart, Mooke, and Faure, will feature Mozart's brilliant Symphony No. 38 "Prague." This iconic work received its first performance in Prague during one of Mozart's most successful tours to the city. The "Prague" symphony will share the program with a new commission by Martha Mooke. Mooke's unique style crosses the classical, jazz, and rock genres with a compelling and singular musical voice. In addition to concert appearances worldwide, Mooke's work has been featured in recordings that often defy categorization, including David Bowie's Heathen CD.

New York-based artist Timothy Dark has announced his forthcoming EP 'Dark Day Afternoon', which is slated for release on March 30. This five-track offering is preceded by the release's lead single 'She Put a Spell on Me'. The EP was co-produced by Robb Torres and Timothy Dark for Darkseed Entertainment at Quartier General Studios in Los Angeles.

St. Ann's Warehouse to Screen Donmar Warehouse Productions

St. Ann's Warehouse welcomes back the Donmar Warehouse to present the American screen premieres of their acclaimed, visceral all-female Shakespeare Trilogy-Julius Caesar, Henry IV, and The Tempest-directed by Phyllida Lloyd, May 31-June 3. In 2016, following a 13-week final repertory season, the plays were filmed in front of a live audience in London and edited for the screen to include separately shot, hand-held and GoPro footage breaking the formality of the traditional live camera "capture" of stage productions.

Edinburgh International Festival Announces 2018 Programme

Today the Edinburgh International Festival unveils its 2018 programme. The International Festival runs Friday 3 to Monday 27 August. The event welcomes 2,750 artists from 31 nations to perform in Scotland's capital city and attracts visitors from all over the world, with audiences expected to travel from over 80 nations to be part of Edinburgh's global celebration of culture.

The Music of Philip Glass Engages Playwrights To Write Ten-Minute Musicals

On Monday evening, March 19, PlayGround concludes its 24th season of Monday Night PlayGround with a special "Musical Theatre Night," inspired by and featuring the music of Philip Glass. The playwrights have just four-and-a-half days to generate their original short musicals and plays with music set to Philip Glass' String Quartets Nos 2-5 (as recorded by San Francisco's own Kronos Quartet in the 1995 recording "Kronos Quartet performs Philip Glass"). The top six will be matched up with leading directors and actors and presented as script-in-hand staged readings at Berkeley Repertory Theatre on March 19 at 8pm. Los Angeles writers will have their work on the same topic presented at L.A.'s Zephyr Theatre on March 12. Tickets are $15 in advance, $20 at the door. Dom Coyote's last show, Songs for the End of the World, a rock n' roll gig-theatre piece inspired by David Bowie and Philip K Dick, won a Vault Festival Origins Award 2016.
