Ars Nova kicks off its 2013 season with The Netflix Plays, which begins performances January 30. This production, the newest installment from Ars Nova's Play Group, is set to play 10 performances from January 30 - February 9. The Netflix Plays, this year's incarnation of Ars Nova's annual Play Group production, features original short plays and live music inspired by the recommendation categories on the Netflix website.

Now, Disney Theatrical Productions has confirmed that Aladdin, a new musical based on the Academy Award winning animated film, will play its pre-Broadway engagement at Toronto's Ed Mirvish Theatre(formerly the Canon) November 13, 2013 to January 12, 2014 and will open at Broadway's New Amsterdam Theatre in 2014. The show will feature music by Alan Menken; lyrics by the late Howard Ashman, Tim Rice and Chad Beguelin with a book by Beguelin. Casey Nicholaw will direct and choreograph.

January 24 and 25, Hunter Ryan Herdlicka will make his Austin Cabaret Theatre debut in his brand new show, YOU MAKE ME FEEL SO YOUNG, before premiering it in NYC in the spring. Expect to hear Sondheim, Comden and Green, Rodgers and Hart, Jerry Herman, and Cole Porter, and more, as Hunter tells his story from growing up in Dallas, to pursuing his dreams on the Great White Way.

The epic story of King Henry V's battle with the French during the Hundred Years' War comes alive for the first time at the Folger Theatre, in William Shakespeare's historical drama Henry V. The production, directed by Robert Richmond (Othello and Henry VIII at the Folger), stars Zach Appelman (War Horse on Broadway) in his Folger Theatre debut as Henry V, and will run from tonight, January 22 - March 3, 2013.

Dallas Theater Center announced today its first production-specific collaboration with the Dallas Museum of Art in conjunction with the Tony Award-winning play Red, which runs February 7-March 24 at the Dee and Charles Wyly Theater, 9th Floor. This unique effort will invite patrons and visitors of both organizations to learn about the world of artist Mark Rothko by seeing the play at DTC, viewing original works of art by Rothko and his contemporaries at the DMA and engaging in a special events about the work at both DTC and at the DMA.

Dallas Theater Center welcomes North Texans into the studio of artist Mark Rothko in the Texas premiere of Tony Award-winning Red, directed by DTC associate artistic director Joel Ferrell. This production turns the 9th floor of the Dee and Charles Wyly Theatre into Rothko's studio and gives audience members an intimate look at the brilliant and volatile artist as he undertakes a new commission. The Old Globe today announced that Joshua Elijah Reese will play the role of Ogun Henri Size in the Southern California premiere of The Brothers Size by award-winning playwright Tarell Alvin McCraney.

Religion and science collide in playwright Catherine Trieschmann's How the World Began, a visceral examination of the way in which we navigate interpersonal relationships involving seemingly irreconcilable beliefs - and just how hard it is to truly listen to one another in an increasingly polarized world. How the World Began runs in the Stiemke Studio from January 16 - February 24, and opens tonight, January 18.

Dallas Theater Center will conclude its four-year Shakespeare cycle with one of the playwright's greatest tragedies King Lear, a co-production with Trinity Repertory Company and directed by DTC artistic director Kevin Moriarty. King Lear opens for previews tonight, January 18 and runs through Sunday, February 18.

Executive Producer Mike Isaacson announced today the directors, choreographers and music directors for its 2013 Season, which opens on June 17 with Monty Python's Spamalot. 'This is a phenomenally talented group of artists, and I'm thrilled to be working with all of them. Last season our audience inspired us to take many risks and push ourselves far. These directors and choreographers are already working on ways to top last season's level of excitement and excellence.'

A delightful midwinter night's dream, ALMOST, MAINE by John Cariani will play TheaterWorks in downtown Hartford. The sweet and poignant comedy runs January 25 - March 3, 2013, directed by Amy Saltz.

Can we practice goodness and create a world to sustain it? This question, posed by Shen Tei, the good-hearted, penniless and cross-dressing prostitute of Bertolt Brecht's Good Person of Szechwan, is central to the work of The Foundry Theatre. The play's concerns, and the earmarks of the Foundry's new production, make it an ideal offering from the company, which is celebrated for creating memorable theatrical events while pursuing civic inquiry and social justice. The show, starring the singular Taylor Mac as Shen Tei, is directed by Lear deBessonet and features original live music by 'indie rock vaudevillians' (SPIN) César Alvarez and The Lisps.

LITTLE LADY will perform at Horse Trade's Kraine Theater tonight, January 14th at 5:30 p.m. as part of the Encore Festival.

Amphibian Stage Productions today announced casting for its first staged reading of the 2013 season, On the Ceiling by Nigel Planer. Patrick Bynane and Michael Muller will star in this two-performance event on Sunday, January 27 and Monday, January 28 at Amphibian's theater at 120 S. Main Street. Longtime Amphibian collaborator David A. Miller will direct the reading.

New York Theatre Workshop (NYTW) Artistic Director James C. Nicola and Managing Director William Russo have announced that the New York premiere of Belleville, written by Amy Herzog and directed by Anne Kauffman, will begin performances Tuesday, February 12 at NYTW, 79 East 4 Street, between Bowery and Second Avenue. Opening night is set for Sunday, March 3 at 7pm. Belleville is scheduled to run through Sunday, March 31.

The Old Globe today announced the complete cast and creative team for the Southern California premiere of The Brothers Size by award-winning playwright Tarell Alvin McCraney. Directed by Tea Alagi?, The Brothers Size will run Jan. 26 - Feb. 24, 2013 in the Sheryl and Harvey White Theatre, part of the Globe's Conrad Prebys Theatre Center. Preview performances run Jan. 26 - Jan. 30. Producers announced today that P.J. Griffith (Giant, American Idiot) and Christina Sajous (Spider-Man Turn Off The Dark, American Idiot) will star in the industry lab presentation of the new musical, BEYOND THE MUSIC, on January 28th and 29th. They join previously announced cast members Rob Bartlett (How To Succeed In Business Without Really Trying), Katie Rose Clarke (Wicked), Claybourne Elder (Bonnie and Clyde) and Tony Award-winner Karen Ziemba (Contact, Curtains). BEYOND THE MUSIC features a book by Andy Sandberg, music and lyrics by Cliff Downs and Katie Kahanovitz, and direction by Sandberg, with choreography by AC Ciulla and music supervision and arrangements by Fred Lassen.

Dallas Theater Center announced today that The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation has awarded it a grant to support a three-year playwright residency. Award-winning playwright and 2010 Meadows Prize recipient Will Power will be DTC's new playwright in residence.
