The 2015-16 season's New York Philharmonic Young People's Concerts (YPCs) will conclude on Saturday, May 14, 2016, at 2:00 p.m. with 'Story and Song,' the final program in this season's series, Once Upon a Time, which explores music inspired by stories, poems, and legends. The concert will include selections from Mahler's Des Knaben Wunderhorn and selections from Gershwin's Porgy and Bess, performed by The Mary and James G. Wallach Artist-in-Residence Eric Owens; Rossini's William Tell Overture; a selection from Mahler's Symphony No. 2, Resurrection; and a selection from Copland's Appalachian Spring. Philharmonic Assistant Conductor Courtney Lewis will lead the performance; Vice President, Education, Theodore Wiprud will host.

The 93rd season of the New York Philharmonic Young People's Concerts (YPCs) will continue on Saturday, March 19, 2016, at 2:00 p.m. with "Babble and Verse," the third program in this season's series, Once Upon a Time, which explores music inspired by stories, poems, and legends. The concert will feature selections from The Marie-Jose?e Kravis Composer-in- Residence Esa-Pekka Salonen's Karawane, Orff's Carmina burana, and Musorgsky's Pictures at an Exhibition, as well as Rachmaninoff's Vocalise. Philharmonic Assistant Conductor Courtney Lewis will lead the performance; Vice President, Education, Theodore Wiprud will host the event, which will be directed and scripted by Tom Dulack.

The New York Philharmonic's 2015 holiday season presents classic masterpieces and seasonal favorites, the Philharmonic's Artist-in-Residence and Artist-in-Association as well as debuts, and continuing and new traditions. This schedule includes the 20th annual Holiday Brass concert, featuring the return of the Canadian Brass, which helped launch the event in 1995, alongside the New York Philharmonic Principal Brass Quintet; Handel's Messiah, led by Jane Glover in her New York Philharmonic debut; Oh, What Fun! A Philharmonic Holiday, led by Philharmonic Assistant Conductor Courtney Lewis and featuring the New York City Gay Men's Chorus, The Mary and James G. Wallach Artist-in-Residence Eric Owens performing “You're a Mean One, Mr. Grinch,” and a carol sing-along; and New Year's Eve: La Vie Parisienne, led by Alan Gilbert and featuring mezzo-soprano Susan Graham, Artist-in-Association Inon Barnatan, and pianist Makoto Ozone. The New Year's Eve concert will be telecast live nationally on Live From Lincoln Center on PBS stations.
Music Academy of the West Sets July Offerings

The Music Academy of the West - which recently announced its $17.5 million Finalecapital campaign to support the final phase of a long-term campus renovation andrenamed its Main House on the Miraflores campus for legendary mezzo-soprano Marilyn Horne with a $6 million gift - continues in fine style this July with a typically wide range of performances and masterclasses from some of the finest musicians in the world. Several renowned performers take up their residencies as Mosher Guest Artists this month: Alban Gerhardt (July 6-10), Leon Fleisher (July 13-19), and the JACK Quartet (July 19-22). Celebrated Finnish conductor Osmo Vanska comes to Santa Barbara to lead the Academy Festival Orchestra (July 11), which also performs underCourtney Lewis (July 18) and Nicholas McGegan (July 25).

The Music Academy of the West will present the world-renowned New York Philharmonic in its first-ever performance at the historic Santa Barbara Bowl as well as a new production of Gioachino Rossini's comic opera Cinderella as part of the Academy's 68th annual Summer Festival. The Music Academy will present some 200 events, including more than 80 that are free, over the course of its coming season, which begins June 15 and concludes August 8. Additional highlights will include performances by pianists Jeremy Denk and Leon Fleisher, the Takács and JACK quartets, cellist Alban Gerhardt, and tenor Anthony Dean Griffey, as well as orchestra concerts led by Christoph von Dohnányi, Courtney Lewis, Nicholas McGegan, Larry Rachleff, and Osmo Vänskä. Throughout its 2015 Summer Festival, the Academy will highlight the music of living composers, including Carter Pann, Mason Bates, Kalevi Aho, Pierre Jalbert, Steve Reich, Thomas Adès, Caroline Shaw, and Pierre Boulez. Featuring the Academy's exceptionally talented fellows, together with distinguished guest performers and faculty, the events will be presented at the Academy's scenic Miraflores campus and in venues throughout Santa Barbara. Subscription sales have begun; individual tickets will go on sale Saturday, April 25.
