The Public Theater will begin performances for Public Studio's two inaugural plays, THE URBAN RETREAT by A. Zell Williams, and MANAHATTA, by Mary Kathryn Nagle, on Thursday, May 15. The two plays will be presented as pared-down productions and run in repertory through Sunday, May 25 in The Public's Shiva Theater.

The Public Theater (Artistic Director, Oskar Eustis; Executive Director, Patrick Willingham) announced today that single tickets are now on sale for Public Studio's two inaugural plays, THE URBAN RETREAT and MANAHATTA. The two plays will be presented as pared-down productions and run in repertory from Thursday, May 15 to Sunday, May 25 in The Public's Shiva Theater.

The improbable 90-year history of New York City Center, the Moorish Revival theater on West 55th Street that is home to Fall for Dance and Encores!, is the inspiration for Women's Project Theater's second production of the season. The Architecture of Becoming is the creation of five playwrights and three directors who have intertwined secret societies, silent films, raucous parties, and the greatest performers of our time with five fictional lives woven through the dynamic history of this great landmark.

The Oregon Shakespeare Festival, with license from the American Foundation for Equal Rights (AFER) and Broadway Impact, has announced a one-night-only reading of '8,' a play chronicling the historic trial in the federal constitutional challenge to California's Proposition 8, written by Academy Award-winning screenwriter and AFER Founding Member Dustin Lance Black. The reading will be held at 8:30 p.m. tonight, August 5 in the New Theatre.

The Oregon Shakespeare Festival will open the world premiere production of Party People at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, July 7 in the New Theatre. Written by UNIVERSES (Mildred Ruiz-Sapp, Steven Sapp, William Ruiz, a.k.a. Ninja), the play is directed by Liesl Tommy, who last directed Ruined (2010) at OSF. Party People will run through November 3.
