2018 Sundance Institute Screenwriters Lab Fellows Announced: Diverse Group of Writers, Advisors Convene to Develop Timely Projects

Sixteen emerging screenwriters will come together at Sundance Institute's 2018 Screenwriters Lab, an immersive five-day writers' workshop announced today and taking place at the Sundance Resort in Utah, January 12-17, 2018. The Lab brings independent screenwriters together with accomplished writers, in an environment that encourages the art and craft of writing and creative risk-taking. Through one-on-one story sessions with Creative Advisors, Fellows work intensively on their feature film scripts and engage in an artistically rigorous process that offers them indispensable lessons in craft. The Lab is the first step in a year-round CONTINUUM of customized creative and tactical support for each project and team.

Annenberg Center Live welcomes the U.S. tour of Pilobolus Dance Theater's wildly theatrical Shadowland. Continuing the company's experimentation with shadow-theatre, Shadowland is a full-length performance about a teenage girl's fantastical journey through a dreamlike shadow world. The show runs April 6-8 at Annenberg Center Live. Tickets are $30-$75 and are available online at AnnenbergCenter.org or by phone at 215.898.3900. The School of American Ballet's Workshop Performance Benefit 2014 on Tuesday, June 3, 2014 celebrated 50 years of these annual performances and raised nearly $860,000 for scholarships and school programs. The evening began with cocktails at 5:30pm in Juilliard's Morse Hall, followed by the presentation of the Mae L. Wien Award for Outstanding Service to Dena Abergel, SAB faculty member and NYCB Children's Ballet Master, and Wien Awards for Outstanding Promise to Lyrica Blankfein, Christopher Grant, Baily Jones, and Addie Tapp. Scroll down for photos from the event!
BWW Reviews: THE SCHOOL OF AMERICAN BALLET Celebrates 50 Years of Workshop Performances

On June 3rd 2014, The School of American Ballet's 50th annual Workshop Performance at the Peter Jay Sharp Theater at Lincoln Center once again proved that Balanchine was right when he famously said "But first a school". That remark was Mr. B's response after Lincoln Kirstein invited him to come to the United States to co-found a ballet company in 1933. Eight decades later, as evidenced by the overall high level of talent and artistry on stage, SAB continues to deserve its reputation as this country's foremost pre-professional training ground for ballet dancers versed in the Balanchine style.
