The Public Theater's Free Shakespeare in the Park production of The Tempest officially opened last night, June 16, and runs through Sunday, July 5, 2015. In The Tempest, Shakespeare's classic about young love, old enemies, and the eternal magic of storytelling, Prospero, exiled to a fantastical island, unleashes a churning storm to shipwreck the traitor brother who stole his throne and settle the score once and for all. But bitter revenge is upended by newfound love in this sublime masterpiece that proves we are all 'such stuff as dreams are made on.'

Tonight, April 13th, The 24 Hour Company is teaming with the Exchange, an off-Broadway theater company, to create the seventh 24 Hour Musicals. A team of more than 100 - including stars from Broadway, film, television, and music - will cast, write, compose, direct, rehearse, tech, and perform four original musicals - all in the obscenely short time between an evening meet-and-greet on Sunday, April 12 and show time tonight, April 13 at 8pm. The event benefits the Exchange's summer program, The Orchard Project, which incubates and accelerates innovative new theatrical work from around the world.

Just last night, Atlantic Theater Company (Neil Pepe, Artistic Director; Jeffory Lawson, Managing Director) presented its landmark 30th Anniversary Gala, at The Pierre (2 East 61st Street at 5th Avenue). Directed by Neil Pepe with musical direction by Matt Gallagher, the annual gala celebrated thirty Atlantic seasons with an evening of music and performances from the Atlantic Ensemble and celebrity artists and honor Charles R. Bendit and Paul E. Pariser, co-CEOs of Taconic Investment Partners for their long-time partnership with Atlantic.
