First Lady Michelle Obama's campaign, “Let's Move”, has highlighted four contributing factors to childhood obesity, which are sedentary lifestyles, unhealthy snacking, large portion sizes, and increased calorie intake. Research conducted from the “Let's Move” campaign states that obese children are more susceptible to heart disease, type 2 diabetes, asthma, sleep apnea, and social discrimination. Canadian Stage Announces Upcoming Season

Canadian Stage today announced additional details about the 2013.2014 theatre season, including casting for London Road, the musical documentary directed by Jackie Maxwell with musical direction by Reza Jacobs, on stage at the Bluma Appel Theatre from January 19 to February 9, 2014. The 5-star hit from London, England will have its Canadian premiere with an all-star cast of some of the country's most talented performers: Sean Arbuckle, Damien Atkins, Ben Carlson, Michelle Fisk, Deborah Hay, George Masswohl, Julain Molnar, Glynnis Ranney, Fiona Reid and Shawn Wright. Roger Bean has delighted audiences cross country with The Marvelous Wonderettes, Winter Wonderettes and Life Could Be a Dream. Weaving the 50s, 60s and 70s hits together into a playful scenario is his specialty, and if only Hair had never existed! For, his latest endeavor Summer of Love, now onstage @ the Carpenter Performing Arts Center in Long Beach has the look, feel and message of Hair : 'Make love not war'! When it comes to taking a catalog of familiar, era-specific songs, tossing them together with colorful costumes and sets, then weaving an easily digestible story to tie them all together, jukebox musical aficionado Roger Bean has his formula down pat. The man behind The Marvelous Wonderettes, it's holiday-themed sequel The Winter Wonderettes, The Andrews Brothers, and recent crowd-pleaser Life Could Be A Dream is back at it again, this time with a slew of 60's hippie-rock tunes to shape his new staged hits parade SUMMER OF LOVE, which recently had its world premiere at Musical Theatre West in Long Beach as part of the 2011 Festival of New American Musicals.
