Review: THE NERD Waxes Nostalgic at ALLEY THEATRE
by Brett Cullum - Mar 6, 2024

THE NERD is frankly still THE NERD, and the director, Brandon Weinbrenner, doesn’t reinvent much of anything. There’s nothing new or fresh, and the script is presented almost as if it would have run back in 1981. There is no discernable reason to remount this show save for the idea that it was fun back in the day.

BWW Review: Life Rings With The Alley Theatre's Delirious DEAD MAN'S CELLPHONE
by Alric Davis - Apr 21, 2022

A jovial spirit permeates the Alley Theatre as people pack in for the opening night performance of Dead Man’s Cell Phone, MacArthur Genius Sarah Ruhl’s effervescent, acerbic and poignant play. Director Brandon Weinbrenner offers a talented cast of six actors staged in the circular thrust Hubbard Theatre, actors with a wealth of talent who bend, break, and bow selflessly with brevity to get every single laugh they can out of the audience. And boy, did we laugh! This deliciously delirious production proudly combines surrealism and existentialism with knowing wit and gut-busting physical comedy.

BWW Reviews: Alley Theatre's AS YOU LIKE IT Commands The Stage
by Katricia Lang - Feb 12, 2015

No one weaves a tangled web of a plot into a $4,000 designer play like Shakespeare. And the Alley Theatre wears that play well. It's been hanging out with the Kardashian-Wests lately and really getting into the fashion life. So AS YOU LIKE IT is a joy to write about. Sometimes, the stars just align.
