Shakespeare on the Sound Presents MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHING, 6/16-7/10

Shakespeare on the Sound, Connecticut's premier outdoor summer Shakespeare theater company, announces the Apprentice Company for its upcoming production of Shakespeare's comedy Much Ado About Nothing, under the direction of Joanna Settle. This year's Apprentice Company of 16 is the largest group yet, chosen from over 120 applicants. The 2011 Apprentice Company includes Gabby Acquaviva (Darien, CT), Iman Al-Salihi (Kirkuk, Iraq), Scott Bartelson (Stratford, CT), Kiana Khozein (Westport, CT), Alexa LaVersa (Stamford, CT), Ali McGarey (Darien, CT), Marquerite McHale (Greenwich, CT), K.C. Morse (Stamford, CT), James O'Reilly (Redding, CT), Jacob Presson (Wilton, CT), Amy Rissolo (Darien, CT), Gus Ruchman (Cos Cob, CT), Jithendra Seneviratne (Colombo, Sri Lanka), Amanda Smith (Croton-on-Hudson, NY), Elena Stein (Rowayton, CT), and Emily Williams (Stamford, CT).

Williamstown Theatre Festival's production of the Tony Award-winning musical A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum will close on July 11. The all-male cast is directed by Jessica Stone (Butley, The Odd Couple), musical directed by Gary Adler (Avenue Q, Altar Boyz), and choreographed by Denis Jones (Legally Blonde, Broadway Bares).

Williamstown Theatre Festival Presents an all-male production of A FUNNY THING HAPPENED ON THE WAY TO THE FORUM June 30 through July 11. Directing the production will be Jessica Stone. Starring as Pseudolus is Tony Award nominee Christopher Fitzgerald. Also starring in the production are Graham Rowat, Josh Grisetti, Kevin Cahoon and Paul Castree, as well as David Costibile, Zackary Grady, Adam Lerman, Chivas Michael, Bryce Pinkham, Joe Reid, Jeremy Shamos, David Turner and John Patrick Walker.

The Playwrights Realm - under the leadership of Co-Artistic Directors John Dias and Katherine Kovner and Producing Director Stephanie Ybarra - and the Graduate Musical Theatre Writing Program at NYU's Tisch School of the Arts present the 2009 WRITERS JAM SESSION - a week of readings by emerging artists, featuring such acting talents as Tovah Feldshuh (IRENA'S VOW, GOLDA'S BALCONY), Michael Cumpsty (DEMOCRACY, COPENHAGEN), Mather Zickel ('Rachel Getting Married,' 'I Love You, Man'), etc. free and open to the public - at the NYU Graduate Musical Theatre Writing Program Center (113 2nd Avenue, between 6th and 7th Streets). Signature Theatre Company continues its celebration of the Negro Ensemble Company (NEC) with special presentations of three more plays from the historic NEC repertoire. Curated by NEC Founder Douglas Turner Ward, Signature Associate Artist Ruben Santiago-Hudson and the Signature Theatre Company staff, these plays will be read on stage at the Peter Norton Space (555 West 42nd Street) on select evenings throughout the season. These classic works give greater insight into the history of this vital and groundbreaking company.
