The one and only Groucho Marx was an unforgettable figure in this country's history. The New York Times summed up this comedic genius as "America's most gifted funny man." This summer, Centenary Stage Company welcomes the performer that has been recognized and applauded world-wide for his ability to embody this legend. Award-winning actor/director/playwright Frank Ferrante brings back the classic laughs of the black and white era, in his popular touring show An Evening with Groucho Saturday, July 13th at 8 pm at the Sitnik Theatre in the David and Carol Lackland Center.

UP Comedy Club's summer roster of sketch shows and special events is making UP one of the hottest places for native Chicagoans and visitors alike. UP Comedy Club offers fun for all ages with 'Improv Extravanganza Explosion!' -- a kid-friendly and interactive improvisational experience (through Aug. 8). For the more grown-up crowd, choices include 'Summer in The Second City,' featuring a mix of The Second City's best sketch material from their archives and some hysterical Chicago-style improvisation (through Sept. 1); the ever-popular 'Second City Improv All-Stars' (ongoing);and The Smartest Man in the World Proopcast' featuring Greg Proops of 'Whose Line Is It Anyway?' coming to UP for one night only (Sept. 4).

The Summer Solstice Celebration officially welcomed summer in Santa Barbara the weekend of June 21 - 23, and the highlight of the city's celebrations was the Summer Solstice Parade along State Street on Saturday, June 22. Supporters of the Santa Barbara Center for the Performing Arts (SBCPA) Annual Fund were welcomed to 'Parades at The Granada Theatre,' where approximately 100 guests enjoyed special front-row seating for the 'Creature'-themed parade. Since bursting onto the scene in 1997 with the jazzy 'Sympathique' (beloved for its slacker-anthem lyrics 'Je ne veux pas travailler'), Portland ensemble Pink Martini has made its mark with an upbeat multilingual repertoire of pop, classical, jazz and big band.
