The Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra Begins 2014-2015 Season with New Associate Conductor

The Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra begins its 2014-15 season on Sept. 13, with a new Associate Conductor, many outstanding guest artists, and collaborations slated with many of the area's leading cultural and educational institutions. A recording project for Naxos will shed light on the works of the little-known French composer Florent Schmitt, and the orchestra will continue its search for a new pops conductor and concertmaster.

On the heels of her exciting recent performances at Brooklyn's Shape Shifter Lab and Manhattan's Metropolitan Room, powerhouse vocalist Sari Schorr will next appear at The Cutting Room (44 E. 32nd Street, NYC) on Thursday, July 31 at 7 pm. Supporting Schorr will be her all-star band The Engine Room, featuring Rob Paparozzi on harmonica and vocals, Pete Levin on keyboards, Jerry Marotta on drums, John Cariddi on guitar, and Sue Williams on bass. With a distinctive sound and a 5-octave range that draws from her roots in blues, rock and jazz, Schorr will debut a selection of explosive songs from her upcoming CD. The Cutting Room show will also feature drumming and recording legend Bernard 'Pretty' Purdie, who with his indelible sound will revisit some classic moments in funk drumming history, while also offering up some fat new grooves on songs written by Schorr.

The Fulfillment Fund is proud to announce the 7th Annual 'The Songs of Our Lives' concert, which will pay special tribute to the songs of internationally acclaimed Songwriter's Hall of Fame and Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Inductee, songwriter Lamont Dozier and the legendary Songwriter's Hall of Famer, two-time Rock & Roll Hall of Famer, singer-songwriter, David Crosby. 'The Songs of Our Lives' is a benefit concert showcasing award-winning songwriters performing the hit songs they have written over the course of their career. The Songs of Our Lives provides a unique opportunity to experience these pieces as the songwriter envisioned them. The intimate setting of this event gives guests the chance to be up close and personal with these artists. Award-winning songwriter Charles Fox, a longtime Fulfillment Fund board member along with his wife Joan Fox, created 'The Songs of Our Lives' as an opportunity to combine entertainment and philanthropy in a meaningful way to support the Fulfillment Fund's important work in the community. Songwriters who have participated in The Songs of Our Lives include Academy and Grammy Award winning songwriters such as Burt Bacharach, Carole Bayer Sager, Marilyn and Alan Bergman, Hal David, Mac Davis, Kenneth 'Babyface' Edmonds, David Foster, Steve Karmen, Jerry Leiber, Kenny Loggins, Barry Mann, Alan Rich, Mike Stoller, Cynthia Weil, Paul Williams, Bill Withers, and many others. They tossed around a number of ideas, but they kept coming back to the music of the 70s - music they both love. Together they came up with the concept, the title, and the song choices for On the Radio: Sounds of the 70s.

Beautiful and Bodacious Blues Singer SARI SCHORR Set to Perform in Multiple NY Metro Area Venues Throughout June

When the legendary Blues artist Joe Louis Walker and his band played a terrific gig at B.B. King's Blues Club in August of 2012, it was their chick/babe front singer Sari Schorr who blew the roof off the club with power vocals. Now Schorr's voice will be busting out all over in June, as she is booked for performances this month throughout the metro area. On Thursday, June 5, her new Sari Schorr Band will be at Stanhope House in Stanhope, New Jersey, where the sensual Schorr will be performing a mix of classic Blues/Rock songs and her own original compositions. On Friday the 13th (7 pm) cabaret audiences will be very lucky to hear Schorr as one of the headliners in The Dana Lorge Variety Show at the Metropolitan Room. And then on Saturday June 21 (7:30 pm), Schorr will perform at Brooklyn's ShapeShifter Lab.
