BWW Recap: The 32nd Bistro Awards Honor the Year's Best in Cabaret, Comedy and Jazz at Gotham Comedy Club

At the 32nd Bistro Awards on March 13, produced by Sherry Eaker, attendees hunkered down at Gotham Comedy Club in the hours before a blizzard hit Manhattan to honor the best in the year's cabaret, comedy and jazz performances. Of course, the prospect of a little snow wouldn't deter honorees from coming out, though it did slightly impact the order of the evening's events, shifting the "grand finale" to the "grand opening."
THE BEST OF DAVID CROHAN Piano Concert to Benefit Lighthouse for the Blind

Legendary local pianist David Crohan will once again lend his extraordinary talents at the piano during a performance of "The Best of David Crohan"as part of the monthly "Music for the Mind" concert series by the Kretzer Piano Music Foundation. The Lighthouse for the Blind of the Palm Beaches will benefit from this concert at the Harriet Himmel Theater at CityPlace on Tuesday, March 21.

Omaha Community Playhouse Announces Summer Show GIRLS LIKE US

The Omaha Community Playhouse will present Girls Like Us: The Music of Carole King, Carly Simon and Joni Mitchell as its summer show June 15 - 25, 2017 in the Howard Drew Theatre. Girls Like Us is inspired by the book of the same name by Sheila Weller and features performers Laura Freeman, Beckie Menzie and Marianne Murphy Orland. Tickets for Girls Like Us go on sale to the public Tuesday, March 7 at 10 a.m. through the OCP box office.

Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Darlene Love, whomRolling Stone has called "one of the greatest singers of all time," and stage actress and cabaret and concert singer Carol Woods are among the artists who will be honored at the 32nd Annual Bistro Awards Gala on Monday, March 13 at 6:30 pm at Gotham Comedy Club, 208 W. 23rd St. As is the Bistro Award tradition, the evening will feature performances by the winners.
Kay Cole Releases New Album on Kritzerland

In 1975, A Chorus Line took Broadway by storm and ran a then astonishing fifteen years, at that time the longest running musical in history. Featured in that original brilliant company was a diminutive powerhouse named Kay Cole as Maggie. In the song “At The Ballet,” composer Marvin Hamlisch wrote her one of the greatest money notes in history and when Kay hit it it was like the heavens opened – it was a great Broadway voice of incredible purity and power, but also subtlety and nuance.

On Sunday, December 18 the Schimmel Center presented Emmy® Award winner and Grammy®, Tony® and Drama Desk nominated Rob Mathes in a Holiday concert that featured musicians from SNL, David Letterman's Late Show, and Paul Simon's band. Powerhouse vocalists Vaneese Thomas and James "D-Train" Williams rounded out the ensemble. Rob Mathes is known as a Musical producer, arranger and director for artists such as Carly Simon, Rod Stewart, Bruce Springsteen, James Taylor, Aretha Franklin, Beyonce , Bono, Elton John, Yo-Yo Ma and Renee Fleming. In 2009 he musical directed President Barak Obama's inauguration which was one of the most viewed events in the 21st Century.
