If there is an onstage moment more breathtaking, more purely theatrical, than the one during Nashville's Nutcracker when the green upstage curtain falls at the end of the exquisitely danced "Waltz of the Flowers," I simply cannot recall it nor would I want to-for it is during that brief respite from an evening filled with stunning artistry and the revelatory staging of this time-honored holiday classic that you find yourself thoroughly done in, overwhelmed by the riches of the production that once again proves Nashville Ballet the city's leading arts entity.

The Old Globe is now presenting SOMEWHERE by Matthew Lopez, directed by Giovanna Sardelli. The production began previews on September 24, and officially opens tonight, September 29. The show will run through October 30, 2011 at the Sheryl and Harvey White Theatre at the Conrad Prebys Theatre Center. Production photos have been released and appear below!

Cardenas, Rua et al. Lead Old Globe's SOMEWHERE this Fall

Executive Producer Lou Spisto today announced the cast and creative team for the World Premiere of Somewhere, a new play by Old Globe Playwright-in-Residence Matthew Lopez. Lopez's play The Whipping Man was a critical success in New York last season after receiving its West Coast Premiere at the Globe in a production directed by Giovanna Sardelli. Sardelli returns to direct Somewhere, which will run in the Sheryl and Harvey White Theatre, part of the Globe's Conrad Prebys Theatre Center, Sept. 24 - Oct. 30. Preview performances run Sept. 24 - Sept. 28. Opening night is Thursday, Sept. 29 at 8:00 p.m. Tickets are currently available by subscription only. Single tickets will go on sale on Sunday, Sept. 4. Tickets can be purchased online at www.TheOldGlobe.org, by phone at (619) 23-GLOBE or by visiting the Box Office at 1363 Old Globe Way in Balboa Park.

Nashville Ballet promises to unveil 'magical surprises' in one of Shakespeare's favorite comedies with the world premiere of Paul Vasterling's original adaptation of A Midsummer Night's Dream, April 23-25, in Andrew Jackson Hall at the Tennessee Performing Arts Center. Bringing the written word to life through Mendelssohn's music and the narrative of dance, audiences will watch as Puck plays tricks on the ill-fated lovers in the enchanted forest and as the antics of the midsummer's night become resolved by the light of the day.

Nashville Ballet unveils magical surprises in one of Shakespeare's favorite comedies in the World Premiere of Paul Vasterling's original adaptation of A Midsummer Night's Dream, April 23-25, 2010. Bringing the written word to life through Mendelssohn's music and the narrative of dance, audiences will delight as Puck plays tricks on the ill-fated lovers in the enchanted forest and as the antics of the midsummer's night become resolved by the light of the day. Costumes and sets are being designed by Campbell Baird, the talented designer who created costumes for our new Nutcracker. Each performance will be accompanied by the Nashville Symphony, directed by Nashville Ballet Music Director Paul Gambill, vocalists Julie Cox and Amy Jarman and the sixty-eight voice Nashville Children's Choir, directed by Dr. Madeline Bridges.
