Center Theatre Group launches the First National Tour of Roald Dahl's 'Matilda The Musical' this Sunday, June 7 at 4 p.m. at the Ahmanson Theatre. The First National Tour of Matilda the Musical, produced by the Royal Shakespeare Company and The Dodgers, launches tonight, May 29, with an official tour opening set for June 7, 2015 at the Ahmanson Theatre in Los Angeles.

After a run in Spring 2014 at Playwrights Horizons (Artistic Director, Tim Sanford; Managing Director, Leslie Marcus), the critically acclaimed score of FLY BY NIGHT: A NEW MUSICAL has been recorded, produced and mixed by Emmy Award winner and Grammy Award nominee Michael Croiter (Matilda, Big Fish, Murder Ballad).  The Original Cast recording will be released in digital and CD formats on June 9, 2014, and may be purchased at www.yellowsoundlabel.com and www.PHnyc.org, as well as through online outlets such as iTunes and in stores nationwide. Casting has been announced for the First National Tour of Matilda the Musical. Produced by the Royal Shakespeare Company and The Dodgers, the First National Tour of Matilda the Musical will begin this May with technical rehearsals and performances at the Shubert Theatre in New Haven, CT, with the official tour opening at the Ahmanson Theatre in Los Angeles on June 7, 2015.

Last year, Craig Zadan and Neil Meron brought The Sound of Music starring country star (and former American Idol winner) Carrie Underwood in the leading role of Maria live to millions of people across the country. With this live performance featuring Broadway vets like Christian Borle and Laura Benanti in supporting roles, America was exposed to a small taste of what happens eight times a week on Broadway. To some, The Sound of Music Live was their first big exposure to the magic and wonder of Broadway, perhaps leading young viewers to bigger and grander things.

The 26th Annual Festival of New Musicals, presented by the National Alliance For Musical Theatre (NAMT), kicked off with THE 46TH MINUTE, a concert hosted by Lindsay Mendez and featuring performances by Heidi Blickenstaff, Doreen Montalvo, Mamie Parris, Bryce Ryness, and more. Musical presentations started October 23 at New World Stages (340 West 50th Street) and included Beautiful Poison, Cubamor, Great Wall, How To Break, Mary Marie, The Noteworthy Life of Howard Barnes, String and Stu For Silverton. The National Alliance For Musical Theatre (NAMT) has announced casting for the additional concerts and events surrounding their 26th Annual Festival of New Musicals. Today, October 22nd the Festival kicks off with The 46th Minute, a concert featuring cut songs and new material from all eight 26th Annual Festival of New Musicals selections, followed by The 2014 Songwriters Showcase on October 23rd and The Songwriters Sessions on October 23rd and 24th, all at New World Stages (340 West 50th Street).
