Initial casting has been announced for Arts Center of Coastal Carolina's production of "Spamalot". Broadway's Steve Blanchard (Beauty and the Beast) and Meredith Inglesby (The Little Mermaid), are set to star as King Arthur and The Lady of the Lake respectively.

The cast of Riverside Theatre's production of Funny Girl has done a music video to Jazmine Sullivan's song, 'Switch'. Directed and choreographed by Jeffrey Scott Stevens, who played the Ziegfeld Tenor and other ensemble roles, the music video showcases many of the cast members and was shot at various locations in Vero Beach including: the theatre's backstage area (dressing rooms, rehearsal hall), on the beach, poolside, and other locations. Due to popular demand, Riverside Theatre has added performances to two of this season's most acclaimed shows. One performance has been added to Funny Girl's scheduled run and one week of performances has been to the scheduled run of LES MISERABLES.

Courtney Balan is set to star as Fanny Brice in Riverside Theatre's FUNNY GIRL, which will play the Stark Stage in Vero Beach, FL, Jan. 10-27, 2013. James Brennan directs and choregraphs the show.

BROADWAY SESSIONS is described as an evening of musical performances, games and open mic featuring a new Broadway guest each week. The show is created and hosted by Ben Cameron (Bway Wicked, Aida and Footloose) and features musical director Joshua Stephen Kartes on piano.

CAROLS FOR A CURE is the annual two-disc holiday CD compilation of original songs and holiday classics which benefits BC/EFA. 2009 provided me with the opportunity to review 126 of the more than 200 shows that were available in the St. Louis region, and it began in terrific fashion with New Line Theatre's NIGHT OF THE LIVING SHOW TUNES. This was a wonderful sampling of contemporary show tunes performed by a cast of talented locals, and featuring artistic director Scott Miller's fine accompaniment on piano. In the acoustically perfect confines of the Sheldon Concert Hall, these unique melodies made a glorious noise. And, as I continued on my quest to expose my young son to the world of musical theatre, I ended the year with the Imaginary Theatre Company's splendid presentation of BAH! HUMBUG!. I was lucky enough to catch quite a few gems in between, and I've decided to compile a list of the ten most intriguing and engaging productions I saw in 2009.

Ben Nordstrom does a wonderful job directing and staging ALICE IN WONDERLAND. It's thoughtfully conceived, and the cast appears to be having a great deal of fun. He's aided in his efforts by Ellen Isom's playful choreography, and Lisa Campbell Albert's strong musical direction.

If you're feeling a little blue, or maybe just experiencing some 'non-specific' sadness, a sure cure for that condition can be found by attending Stages St. Louis's sparkling presentation of THE DROWSY CHAPERONE. This is an uproariously funny show that pokes gentle fun at the very core of musical theatre conventions. Everything is fair game in Bob Martin and Don McKellar's witty script, which even manages to lampoon opening blackouts and intermissions.

A musical that takes you back to a time when life was simple and love was grand.
