When I was a teenager, a parenting magazines put out a tongue-in-cheek list of the 'the top most terrifying sentences a parent can hear.' Nearing the top of the list was the one over 60,000 people heard May 30 at Ohio Stadium: 'Ladies and Gentlemen, The Rolling Stones.'

On Monday, April 27th, the Metropolitan Room was packed with Broadway & Aspiring artists who shared new works and cheered each other on at the Broadway Artists & Friends Open Mic & Mingle. Hosted by JERSEY BOYS' Peter Gregus, audiences were treated to an up close look at singers trying out new songs & sharing their stories. The evening was intimate, joyful and full of opportunities for everyone involved to make invaluable industry connections. This fall, Jaren J. Hampton returns to the stage with his second production, and brand new play "A House Divided". Set to take place at the Poag Theater on the campus of Tennessee State University. This is Hampton's second production that he has written, acted in, produced and directed. His first, ("Family Ties"), premiered back in February of this year, and debuted to a sold out audience on opening night.

Dorset Theatre Festival will present The Mousetrap, Dame Agatha Christie's masterpiece of mayhem and mystery, from August 14th through the 30th at the Dorset Playhouse. The Mousetrap, in addition to being one of Christie's most famous works, has the distinction of being the world's longest continually running play. The original production, at London's Ambassador Hotel, has been running continuously since 1952!

Dorset Theatre Festival will present the song cycle from Dillingham City by the exciting writing team of Lucy Thurber and Matt Gould, as part of their New Play Reading Series on August 9th at 3 pm. The presentation, which will include songs from the show in development as well as a talk with the writers about their process, will be directed by Kent Nicolson, the acclaimed Director of Musical Theater and Literary Associate for Playwrights Horizons in New York City. A talk-back with the writers, cast and director will occur directly after the presentation.

Dorset Theatre Festival will present the 20th Anniversary Revival of David Ives' classic comedy All in the Timing opening July 24. All in the Timing, a collection of six zany comedies, will be directed by DTF favorite and resident director Jenn Thompson, known to local audiences for her celebrated productions of Noises Off, Boeing-Boeing and Barefoot in the Park.

Keystone Repertory Theater in Indiana, PA will wrap up it's summer 2014 season at the end of July with SWEENEY TODD: THE DEMON BARBER OF FLEET STREET and THE GLASS MENAGERIE.

Dorset Theatre Festival is proud to present the World Premiere of Leslie Ayvazian's new comedy Out of the City beginning July 10th. This is the third world premiere that Dorset has produced in the past five seasons, continuing a tradition of New Play Development to which Artistic Director Dina Janis has proven deeply committed. "Fostering new work is one of the most important things we do here at Dorset, from our Young Playwrights workshops, to our New Play Reading Series, to these exciting World Premieres. It's a thrilling and rewarding process." Past world premieres have included Theresa Rebeck's The Novelist and The Whore and Mr. Moore by Michael Cristofer.

Impro Theatre is set to celebrate William Shakespeare's 450th birthday tonight, April 25 with a special performance of its currently running production, Shakespeare UnScripted, a post-show discussion, and a champagne reception complete with birthday cake. The curtain will rise at 8pm at the Carrie Hamilton Theatre (upstairs at The Pasadena Playhouse) in Pasadena.
