A trio of outstanding and hilarious judges has been announced for the 5th Smash Year of The Broadway Beauty Pageant: Bruce Vilanch is the six-time Emmy Award winner comedy writer and actor who is one of the most sought after jokesmiths in the entertainment industry. Rachael Dratch is best known for her years as a cast member of Saturday Night Live, and is an award winning comic actress from Second City. Carson Kressley was the fashion expert on Queer Eye, the host of the TV show How To Look Good Naked, and now hosts Carson-Nation on the Oprah Winfrey Network. This not-to-be-missed event will be on Monday, March 21st, 2011 at 8:00 PM, benefiting The Ali Forney Center, NYC's primary housing resource for homeless LGBT youth. The annual show will again be at the Peter Norton Symphony Space, 2537 Broadway (at 95th Street).

As BroadwayWorld reported last night, according to the NY Times, the Broadway run of Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark was rumored to be postponed once again; this time, because of safety issues. inspectors from The New York Department of Labor visited the Foxwoods Theatre to take a look at the flying devices and methods being used. Because they saw only some of the dozens of aerial stunts in the show, delays in the opening are likely. If the Department of Labor approves of the rest of the stunts in the next 10 days, then performances will begin on November 14.

The New York Times reports this afternoon that a second SPIDER-MAN performer has come forward to report an injury as a result of the show's complicated stunts. This second performer - who is remaining anonymous - claims to have broken both feet during the same catapult stunt from which Kevin Aubin broke both wrists, as BroadwayWorld reported earlier today.

Michael Riedel reported in this morning's New York Post that SPIDER-MAN's Kevin Aubin, one of several performs said to be appearing in a SPIDER-MAN outfit had broken both of his wrists during a small presentation for ticket brokers and group sales agents last week.

Recently, the Associated Press was invited inside the Foxwoods Theatre to observe SPIDER-MAN in rehearsal. As reported on ABC News today, reporter Mark Kennedy reveals that the production will feature '41 cast members, 18 orchestra members and about 18 new songs by U2's Bono and the Edge.' The spared-no-expense 60M production also features a circular conveyor belt and high-intensity arial choreography by Cirque du Soliel.

On September 10, Spider-Man Reeve Carney introduced the first song from the upcoming Broadway show, 'Boy Falls From the Sky' on Good Morning America. Carney performed the song, composed by Bono and The Edge at the Hudson Theatre in the Millennium Hotel, with the performance broadcast live during the 8am-9am hour. Last night, September 23, the stars of Memphis were honored with a Wall of Fame painting at Tony di Napoli's restaurant to kick off the new Broadway season and celebrate the cast's one year anniversary on Broadway. The painting was created by Dan May. Valerie Smaldone produced and emceed the event, which was hosted by Tony di Napoli's Bruce Dimpflmaier.
