New Ohio Theatre's annual New York Indie Theatre Film Festival (NYITFF) a?" a unique presentation of film works by New York theatre makers a?" returns in 2020 with a stellar lineup, including a special screening of a feature directed by downtown legend Charles Busch, with a talkback with the artist, and a reading of a new screenplay written and directed by playwright, filmmaker, and author Brooke Berman (Hunting and Gathering). Join three NYC theatre artists, Lynnsey Ooten, Brandon Garegnani, and Jeane Reveendran, on May 9 and 12 for the screening of their award-winning web series, SCRiBBLES, at the NYC Indie Film Festival. The online release of Season One will follow on May 13, with 4 episodes airing every Monday this spring. SCRiBBLES tells the story of a depressed illustrator who's pushed to the edge of sanity when his latest drawing comes to life and forces him to face his demons.

It's a Wonderful Life has been part of many families' Christmas traditions for decades, and now there's a new way to experience the story. PlayMakers Repertory Company in Chapel Hill is offering playwright Joe Landry's interesting take on a live production of the show with It's a Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play.

This holiday season, PlayMakers Repertory Company will treat Triangle audiences to a family-friendly live version of a treasured holiday film with its production "It's a Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play" by Joe Landry. PlayMakers, the professional theater in residence at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, will present "It's a Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play" now through Dec. 16 in the Paul Green Theatre at UNC's Center for Dramatic Art on Country Club Road. This sounds like an exaggeration, but I promise that it's not: Noises Off at PlayMakers Repertory Company in Chapel Hill is, honest-to-goodness, the funniest thing I have seen in quite some time. It reminded me that live theater is magical - I cannot think of a single movie which is as funny as this live-action comedy. Michael Frayn's writing is brilliant - how any human is able to write something so tight and fast-paced is beyond me. It's not a popular piece for nothing. Under the skillful direction of Michael Michetti, the cast is able to capture the blissful comedy of the piece, beat by beat.
