Taproot Theatre Announces Holiday 2011 Production

Taproot Theatre brings Christmas cheer and old-fashioned Americana to the stage this holiday season with Beasley's Christmas Party. The charming 1909 novel from Booth Tarkington was adapted for the stage by C.W. Munger. Beasley's Christmas Party opens on November 25 and runs through December 30, with low-price previews on November 18 & 19, plus a pay-what-you-can performance on November 23.

Providing its region with a cultural attraction of world-class quality and scale, the multi-venue Center for the Performing Arts in Carmel, Indiana - just outside of the state capital of Indianapolis - opened the first of its venues on January 29, 2011, with an inaugural concert at its state-of-the-art concert hall The Palladium. The Center's other venues, now under construction, will be a 200-seat studio theater (opening in March 2011) and The Tarkington, a 500-seat proscenium theater (opening in August 2011).

Grosse Pointe Theatre held the annual Clarence Awards Dinner on June 19th at MacRays Banquet Center in Harrison Township. The award is named for the first show GPT produced in 1948, Clarence, a comedy by Booth Tarkington. Awards went to GPT members from the Pointes and throughout Metro Detroit.

Princeton's famed Triangle Club will pay homage to the American Master of the Macabre, poet and author Edgar Allan Poe, to mark the occasion of his 200th birthday, with its newest show Stark Raven Mad!
