With the first single from her new album, Me, jazz chanteuse Darby Williams honors the late Billy Strayhorn and one of his forgotten masterpieces “No One Knows.”  Marking the 100th anniversary of his birth on November 29th, Williams has teamed with two-time Grammy award winner Peabo Bryson to share her version of a Strayhorn gem that has been neglected for too long.

An evening of great orchestral jazz featuring three sophisticated ladies.

The Free Concert Series in the Richard Bradshaw Amphitheatre is a unique opportunity to experience diverse artistic programming in what has become one of Toronto's most exciting cultural hubs. The Meeting* hosted by Justin Sayre, the acclaimed comedy/variety show, will return to JOE'S PUB at The Public Theater on Sunday, November 22 at 9:30 PM to continue the Fall 2015 Season. The Meeting* has been called 'delicious and delightfully droll' by The New York Post and 'hilarious and sardonic' by The Village Voice. A story for Slate.com called the evening 'so deliciously icy that it left me shivering with fear and delight.' The 2014-2015 season sold out after a New York Times 'Arts & Leisure' piece ran last fall. The November 2015 show will feature a centennial celebration of legendary gay jazz composer Billy Strayhorn, with special guests Tonya Pinkins, Nathan Lee Graham and Natalie Douglas. Tracy Stark serves as the show's Music Director.

As a part of the Auditorium Theatre of Roosevelt University's citywide festival celebrating the life and music of Billy Strayhorn, Chicago Human Rhythm Project (CHRP) presents an evening of music, song and dance marking his close association with Duke Ellington, the Duke Ellington Orchestra and Harlem's famous tap collective the Copasetics tonight, November 1 at 7:30 p.m. at the Jazz Showcase.

The HARLEM QUARTET, praised for its 'panache' by The New York Times, is 'bringing a new attitude to classical music, one that is fresh, bracing and intelligent,' says the Cincinnati Enquirer. This unique Salon experience will be found on the VPAC stage tonight, November 5, as the ensemble invites 200 audience members to join them onstage for a rare, intimate performance of their classical and jazz program.

Chicago's acclaimed Jefferson Award nominated actress and winner of the After Dark Award for 'Outstanding Cabaret Artist' and the Chicago Cabaret Professionals Gold Coast Award, Suzanne Petri brings her brand new show, TORCH, SASS AND SWING!, to Davenport's Cabaret (1383 N Milwaukee Ave). The show runs tonight, October 28, and November 4 & 7, 2015.

Tracy Stark serves as the show's Music Director.

In October 1989, four years after he founded The Mable Mercer Foundation, cabaret publicist and promoter Donald Smith launched the first Cabaret Convention at New York's Town Hall. The now four-day event eventually moved to Lincoln Center's Rose Hall, but due to renovations this year at the more uptown revue, this year's 26th Annual Convention was back at its old West 43rd Street stomping grounds. Since Donald Smith died in March 2012, the Mercer Foundation's Artistic Director and de-facto Convention Producer has been cabaret star KT Sullivan, and for Monday night's opening show she greeted the audience, in measured tempo, with the infectious enthusiasm of Cole Porter (“Another Opening, Another Show”) and Irving Berlin (“There's No Business Like Show Business”). Sullivan provided an effective, entertaining onramp to an evening that featured experienced American and European artists from cabaret and theater and relative cabaret newbies who've recently made a mark on the scene.
