On Monday, November 8th, the VH1 Save The Music Foundation honored Julie Andrews along with Grammy® Award Winners John Legend, John Mayer and The ASCAP Foundation. Paul Williams, legendary songwriter and President of The ASCAP Foundation, accepted on behalf of The Foundation. Additionally, Natasha Bedingfield, a member of the VH1 Save The Music Alumni Ambassador Group, performed and the program for the evening, presented by LG Mobile Phones celebrated music as a universal language that shapes our life stories with a special tribute to the 45th Anniversary of Rodgers & Hammerstein's The Sound of Music by Kristin Chenoweth. Gay Men's Chorus of LA Sings for 'It Get's Better'

The critically acclaimed Gay Men's Chorus of Los Angeles (GMCLA) - a leading artistic force, staunch advocate of civil and human rights, and the first gay men's choir to perform for a sitting president (Bill Clinton) - has harnessed the power of music to create a moving anti-bullying music video message featuring Cyndi Lauper's inspiring anthem 'True Colors' for the Internet's 'It Gets Better' project aimed at LGBT youth. More than 200 people of all ages and ethnic backgrounds from across the Southland - gay and straight - participated in the ambitious five-minute video, which was filmed in the gymnasium of Immanuel Presbyterian Church in Los Angeles and further establishes GMCLA as a leading force promoting equality and acceptance. The Tony Award-winning AVENUE Q celebrated its first anniversary at New World Stages yesterday, October 21, 2010. After a triumphant, six-year run on Broadway, AVENUE Q continued its record of unexpected accomplishments last fall when the show's producers made the surprise announcement on the musical's Broadway closing night that they were, in fact, moving AVENUE Q to New World Stages, a mere five blocks away from the Golden Theatre, where the show had delighted audiences of all ages for more than 2,500 performances on Broadway. AVENUE Q began preview performances at New World Stages on October 9, 2009, officially opened on October 21, and continues to play to large and happy audiences one year later. The company was founded by American Ballet Theatre principal dancer, Ángel Corella to promote classical ballet in Spain and to nurture Spanish dancers and offer them an opportunity to cultivate their talent in their home country. Pop icon Deborah Cox headlined a star-studded cast featuring performances and presentations by Sandra Thurman, former AIDS Czar under President Bill Clinton and current President and CEO of International AIDS Trust, the cast of FELA!, Dancing With The Stars finalist and N'SYNC star Lance Bass, Tony Award winners Alice Ripley, Chuck Cooper, Melba Moore, and TV stars Graham Phillips (The Good Wife) and Ariana Grande (Nickelodeon's Victorious), for the third annual Broadway in South Africa (BSA) benefit concert last night, October 4. Nearly the entire show featured world-premiere songs, created for the evening, by such composers as Grammy Award winners Desmond Child and Julie Gold. This year's honoree was producer Michael Butler. He is one of the most successful theatrical producers, lauded for bringing HAIR to Broadway in 1968, and an active proponent of youth creating positive global social change.
