Broadwayworld.com as confirmed that Jordin Sparks is expected to return to Broadway's IN THE HEIGHTS on September 2. As reported previously, Sparks suffered a hip injury during Act 1 of the August 28 performance and has been sitting out since.

Broadway actress Bianca Marroquin (In the Heights, Chicago) will host 'To Mexico From New York with Love,' a one-night-only benefit concert on Wednesday, September 1, 2010 (8 p.m.) at the Merkin Concert Hall in the Kaufman Center (129 West 67th Street). The concert will feature performances from Jordin Sparks (In the Heights), Tony nominee Tom Wopat (A Catered Affair), Carol Woods (Chicago), Jaime Camil, Tony nominee Brenda Braxton (Smokey Joe's Café), Raymond Bokhour (Chicago) and many more.

The star posted on Twitter last night after being injured in the show that 'Got my 1st broadway injury tonight. Hurt my hip in the first act. But I finished the show! Thank you so much to everyone who came tonight. Sorry I couldn't sign. :( It's hard to stand/walk. CHICAGO veterans Bianca Marroquin and Ruthie Henshall will each return to the role of Roxie Hart yet again, in the upcoming months. Marroquin will play the merry murderess from April 15 through April 25 and the original London Roxie will play the role from April 26 through June 13.

If you've only ever seen the film version, then you should do yourself a favor and check out the more minimalistic staging carried over from the 1996 revival by producers Barry and Fran Weissler.

The merry murderesses Velma Kelly and Roxie Hart are in Cincinnati this week for a short engagement at the Aronoff Center through December 6th. One of my favorite musicals that somehow seems to continue to run, I was excited to see it once again.
