The first ever San Francisco theatrical event on record was held on June 22, 1849. Lacking a true venue, that performance by 'Jeemes Pipes of Pipesville' took place at the police station and didn't exactly put the City by the Bay on the map. They couldn't know then that the San Francisco Bay Area would grow to be the third largest theatre center in the country, boasting over 400 companies in nine counties.

Final rehearsals are underway for Skyline Theatre Company's upcoming production of tick, tick…BOOM! by RENT composer Jonathon Larson. The show will run for six performances November 7th-9th and 14th-16th, 2014, at the George Frey Center for Arts and Recreation in the Fair Lawn Community Center in Fair Lawn.

The Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts held auditions on Thursday, October 9 for a Central Florida-based singer between the ages of 9-14 with the goal of finding one girl to perform in Broadway & Beyond at the Walt Disney Theater on November 15.
