Bravo Greenlights 17 New Unscripted Series, Announces Returning Favorites

Bravo Media unveiled its largest slate of original programming-to-date with 17 new and 18 returning unscripted series, marking a 15 percent increase over last year, and announced three new scripted projects in development. Additionally, Bravo ranks #9 in the highly desired A18-49 demo and in A25-54, up 5 percent and 7 percent respectively, and up 8 percent in total viewers year-to-date, according to Nielsen.

Based on the book of the same title by Jaap Polak and Ina Soep Polak, STEAL A PENCIL FOR ME, a new opera with music by Gerald Cohen and libretto by Deborah Brevoort, will have its premiere in Scarsdale and New York City, NY in late April, 2013. STEAL A PENCIL FOR ME is a love story set in two concentration camps during World War II. It is based on the true story of Jaap and Ina Polak, whom the composer has known for the last 25 years, and who just celebrated their 100th and 90th birthdays.

Shaquille O'Neal is about to put his own hilarious spin on online videos when truTV's brand new series Upload with Shaquille O'Neal premieres Thursday, Feb. 21, at 10:30 p.m. (ET/PT). Each week on the show, Shaq and his comic friends - co-hosts Gary Owen (Think Like a Man) and Godfrey (The Mr. Men Show) - will scour the internet looking for the funniest online videos and comment on them. They will also make their own viral videos, pull pranks and create parodies of current pop culture stories.

AOP (American Opera Projects) in partnership with The Walt Whitman Project will be participating in the Brooklyn Public Library's annual free Kwanzaa program today, December 27 at 3pm at the S. Stevan Dweck Auditorium at the Central Library, Grand Army Plaza, Brooklyn Public Library (10 Grand Army Plaza, Brooklyn, NY 11238). On Friday, December 28 at 2pm, the program will be repeated at the Rosetta Gaston Senior Center in Brownsville (460 Dumont Avenue, Brooklyn, NY 11212.) Both performances are free and open to the public. Reservations are not necessary, but seating is first come, first served.
