In his new play, The Intelligent Homosexual's Guide to Capitalism and Socialism with a Key to the Scriptures, Kushner writes movingly about politics and family in America today-plus unions, real estate and love. Kushner and Eustis discussed these topics and more, with an introduction by special guest host Cynthia Nixon.

The Public Theater (Oskar Eustis, Artistic Director; Joey Parnes Interim Executive Director) announced the final Public Forum evening of the season, 'Tony Kushner and Oskar Eustis in Conversation,' on Sunday, March 8 at 8 p.m. In his new play, The Intelligent Homosexual's Guide to Capitalism and Socialism with a Key to the Scriptures, Kushner writes movingly about politics and family in America today-plus unions, real estate and love. On Sunday, May 8, Kushner and Eustis will discuss these topics and more, with an introduction by special guest host Cynthia Nixon. Sydney Theatre Company and Malthouse Melbourne collaborate on a new production of the rarely performed Baal, the first play of one of the greatest theatrical minds of all time, Bertolt Brecht. Written in 1918 when the playwright was just 20 years old and regarded as a play of confronting and contrasting beauty and brutality, Baal is directed by Simon Stone.

La scène est en Judée, en 26 de notre ère, dans la citadelle de Machaerous. Du haut de ses remparts s'ouvre une perspective imprenable sur la Mer Morte. En se penchant, Hérode le Tétrarque peut en voir miroiter les eaux, et scintiller peut-être les piques et les éperons des troupes que les nomades ont levées contre lui. Décidément, depuis qu'il a dévasté les dernières forêts du pays pour bâtir sa place forte, la vue est on ne peut plus dégagée. Le Tétrarque sait-il déjà qu'il va recevoir de la visite - celle d'une fille un peu trop belle, celle d'un homme un peu trop puissant?? Pris entre le désir que l'une suscite et la crainte que l'autre provoque, ce pauvre Hérode risque de perdre la tête - enfin, si l'on ose dire.
