The Film Society of Lincoln Center announced today Fasten Your Seatbelts (Part 2): 20th Century Fox (August 9-15), a summertime big screen showcase of some of the movie studio's most beloved and unforgettable films.

Today we are highlighting four particularly compelling recent releases perfect for Summer enjoyment, all from Acorn/Athena Media- the documentaries SHAKESPEARE: THE KING'S MAN and BROADWAY MUSICALS: A JEWISH LEGACY, as well as the complete collection of Judi Dench's British TV series A FINE ROMANCE and also the lavish 1982 TV film THE SCARLET PIMPERNEL starring Ian McKellen, Anthony Andrews and Jane Seymour.

Barbra & Frank - The Concert That Never Was! is all about Barbra Streisand and Frank Sinatra. It is unlikely that these two powerhouse voices of the 20th century would have ever shared the same stage...until now! They never worked together, exactly, except when they recorded a duet in separate recording sessions. Barbra & Frank - The Concert That Never Was! will play Bridgeport's Downtown Cabaret Theatre for three performances (only) tonight, June 28 & the 29th (2013).

The Cape Playhouse in Dennis Village is offering a bouquet of smiles for a summer's night with the world premiere of David Zippel's tribute show, THEY'RE PLAYING HIS SONGS: THE MUSIC OF MARVIN HAMLISCH, honoring both the man and his music. This bittersweet labor of love features the virtuoso piano accompaniment of Musical Director Christopher Marlowe, the talents of four singer/actors who all worked with Hamlisch during their careers, and entertaining video clips of the composer commenting on a range of subjects.

Today in 1976, the second Broadway revival of Pal Joey opened at the Circle in the SquareTheatre, where it ran for 73 performances. Pal Joey is a musical with a book by John O'Hara (from his novel of the same title) and music and lyrics by Richard Rodgers and Lorenz Hart based on a character and situations O'Hara created in a series of short stories published in The New Yorker. The original 1940 Broadway production was directed by George Abbott and starred Gene Kelly. There have been several revivals since, including a 2008-09 Broadway run, and a 1957 film adaptation starring Frank Sinatra, Rita Hayworth and Kim Novak. The 1976 cast featured: Christopher Chadman (Joey), Harold Gary (Mike), Terri Treas (Kid), Janie Sell (Gladys), and Gail Benedict (Gail).

The Drama Desk Award-winning Celebrity Autobiography returned to Stage 72 (formerly the Triad Theater) with its new edition, Celebrity Autobiography: The Next Chapter, on Saturday, June 15 at 9:30pm and Monday, June 17 at 7:30pm. Check out a look back below!

From today, June 23 to June 29, 14 emerging professional songwriters will participate in The Johnny Mercer Foundation Songwriters Project at Northwestern University -- an intensive weeklong program on the Evanston campus that has produced 2013 Tony Award-nominated songwriters Benj Pasek and Justin Paul (nominated for 'A Christmas Story, The Musical'), Fred Ebb Award-winner Sam Willmot, and Latin Grammy Award-winners Obed Bermudez and Jennifer Pena.

"The Hebrew Hillbilly", written by and performed by singer-songwriter Shelley Fisher in a one-woman cabaret style concert at a 2 PM matinee performance on Sunday, July 7th at Arthur Newman Theatre in The Joslyn Center Theater in Palm Desert. The show chronicles Ms. Fisher's Hollywood odyssey that begins in the heart of the Mississippi Delta in her hometown of Memphis, Tennessee. Shelley grew up surrounded by Rockin' Roll, Blues, and Bar B Que with a flamboyant but very Jewish mother who frowned on her dating the local redneck boys. But that never stopped her dreams from an early age of being a Hollywood star and she has been singing since before she could walk.

Danielle Grabianowski, the award-winning singing actress whose performances have been likened to 'Barbra Streisand at the Bon Soir and Bette Midler at the Continental Baths' (Village Voice) makes a return to the club scene in an eclectic, impromptu set of standards, stories and pop tunes. She will perform two shows at The Duplex on Wednesdays, tonight, June 19 and August 28 at 7:00 PM. Grabianowski was last seen as the jazz singer Josephine Grant in the award-winning Off-Broadway sensation, Sleep No More. The evening will also feature longtime collaborator and fellow Buffalo, NY nativeNate Buccieri on piano.
