The Second City Returns With LAUGHING MATTERS, 2/8 & 9

With economic uncertainty, political gridlock, and a dearth of Khardashians clogging up our televisions, laughing has never mattered more, and Chicago's legendary sketch comedy theatre, The Second City, returns to Columbus to bring some well-needed silliness and hilarious spontaneity to a world in need of some comic relief. The Second City: Laughing Matters puts comedy first in a wickedly funny revue that skewers and celebrates in equal doses.

Melissa Hart Will Conduct Voice Workshop at BTAC, 2/16

Bloomington Theatre and Art Center (BTAC) will welcome Tony-nominated Broadway actress Melissa Hart for a special 1-day acting workshop for musical theater performers called Voice: The Actor's Instrument. She will visit BTAC for this educational opportunity on Saturday, February 16 from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Wolf Trap Foundation for the Performing Arts has announced the initial set of performances scheduled for its highly anticipated 2013 summer season, the first under the supervision of Arvind Manocha, Wolf Trap's new President and CEO. The shows booked to date include 21 different acts and nearly 30 individual performances from a wide array of genres and art forms, including pop, rock, R&B, classical, comedy, musical theatre, films, and more. Performances will be held at the Filene Center at Wolf Trap National Park for the Performing Arts, D.C. metro area's top choice for affordable and easily accessible outdoor entertainment.

Brooklyn Center for the Performing Arts at Brooklyn College launches its 2012-2013 American Classics series with The Ultimate Sounds of Doo-Wop and Street Corner Harmony, a concert of chart-topping artists including Fred Parris and The Satins ('In the Still of the Night'), The Legendary Teenagers ('Why Do Fools Fall in Love'), The Chiffons with original lead singer Judy Mann ('One Fine Day'), The Original Tymes ('So Much In Love'), and Barbara Harris and the Toys ('Lovers Concerto'), hosted by WCBS-FM 101.1's 'Broadway' Bill Lee tonight, November 17 at 8pm. Director Barbara Harrison has directed and developed new work for Ars Nova's ANT FEST, Writopia Lab, The Lark Play Development Center, Manhattan Theatre Source's Estrogenius Festival, Red Fern Theatre Company's Dark Night Series, NYU Tisch, The Gallery Players, EBE Ensemble, ESPA Primary Stages, Roots & Wings Theatrical, Ground Up Productions, Coffee Black Productions, Geraldine Page Salon Series, Sparkification Productions, and the Network One-Act Festival. Barbara has assistant directed for companies such as Clubbed Thumb, Manhattan Theatre Club, Here Arts Center, and Neighborhood Productions. She currently serves as Programming Fellow for Stage Directors and Choreographers Foundation and has worked in artistic programming/administration for Lark Play Development Center, Ars Nova Theater, Manhattan Theatre Club, and Disney Theatrical.
