Bill T. Jones & Gregory Vuyani Maqoma Set for HISTORY, MEMORY AND THE CREATIVE PROCESS Discussion at National Black Theatre Inc., 10/29

Dr. Barbara Ann Teer's National Black Theatre (NBT) and Brooklyn's 651 ARTS partner together to present a dynamic conversation between Legendary dancer/choreographer Bill T. Jones and internationally renowned dancer, choreographer Gregory Vuyani Maqoma that falls inline with NBT's 45th Season of "Moving the Legacy Forward." The conversation will happen on Tuesday, October 29, 2013 at 7PM. The discussion, entitled "History, Memory and the Creative Process," will focus on the creative process of making a dance work based on biographical and historical narratives. National Black Theatre's CEO, Sade Lythcott will moderate the conversation, which will be held at the NBT located at 2031 Fifth Avenue, New York, New York 10035. Tickets to this event are with a suggested donation of $10.

Performances of the free play, which runs today, July 13-30 (on Tuesdays through Sunday) at 7:30 pm, are made possible by the Ford Foundation.

The Last Five Years is a contemporary musical about the five-year relationship between two young New Yorkers: Jamie Wellerstein, a Jewish novelist whose career is rising at lightning speed, and Cathy Hiatt, an actress with integrity struggling to make it in a cut-throat business. The couple earnestly navigates the tumultuous waters of love, while their career successes and hardships tear them apart. Crossroads' production casts Cathy as an African-American, adding an interracial dimension to the show.

A STREETCAR NAMED DESIRE to Open at the Broadhurst Theatre April 22; Previews Begin April 3

Variety reports today that the upcoming revival of A STREETCAR NAMED DESIRE will open April 22, with previews beginning April 3. The show, which has been hunting for a theatre since this past summer, will take Broadway's Broadhurst Theatre (which had been booked by the delayed revival of REBECCA).
