Olympia Dukakis and Lisa Peterson Host Hero Theatre's THREE SISTERS Reading, 8/8

HERO Theatre's first production will be on Monday August 8, 2011, 7PM at the Baryshnikov Arts Center. Hosted by Academy?award winner Olympia Dukakis, the newly formed company will present a special staged reading of Anton Chekhov's 'Three Sisters' directed by Obie?award winner Lisa Peterson.

Following the critical acclaim of their most recent productions: Three Sisters (The Cherry Pit), The Dark Heart of Meteorology, (Horse Trade Theatre) and Clementine and the Cyber Ducks (Incubator Arts), The Assembly will present the world premiere of home/sick, an ensemble-devised piece of political theater that explores the history of the 1960s radical group, The Weather Underground.

Only three weeks remain in the 16-week strictly-limited engagement of BENGAL TIGER AT THE BAGHDAD ZOO -- Rajiv Joseph's critically-acclaimed play starring Robin Williams -- set to conclude its Broadway run on July 3 at the Richard Rodgers Theatre (226 W. 46 St.) in Manhattan. Directed by Moises Kaufman and starring Robin Williams in his Broadway acting debut, BENGAL TIGER AT THE BAGHDAD ZOO remains one of the most widely-praised new plays of the season.

Nominations in 26 competitive categories for the American Theatre Wing's 65th Annual Antoinette Perry 'Tony' Awards were announced May 3, 2011 by Tony Award winning actor Matthew Broderick and Tony Award winning actress Anika Noni Rose, at the Tony Award Nominations Announcement sponsored by IBM. The nominees were selected by an independent committee of 22 theatre professionals appointed by the Tony Awards Administration Committee. The 2011 Tony Awards are presented by The Broadway League and the American Theatre Wing. Yesterday, a cocktail reception was held to honor the nominees before the big night. The Theatre World Awards presentation were held at Jujamcyn's August Wilson Theatre, 245 West 52nd Street (home of Jersey Boys), in an invitation-only ceremony yesterday, June 7, 2011 from 2:00 to 3:45 p.m. Peter Filichia hosted, Barry Keating directed, Mary K. Botosan and Erin Oestreich were the event's producers. There was also a tribute to John Willis, founder of the Theatre World Awards, who died last summer. There will also be performances by former Theatre World Award winners, including: Karen Akers (Nine, 1982), Ernestine Jackson (Raisin, 1974), and John Lloyd Young (Jersey Boys, 2006).

The first annual Lunt-Fontanne Award for Ensemble Excellence will be presented to the cast of The Motherf**cker With a Hat: Bobby Cannavale, Chris Rock, Elizabeth Rodriguez, Annabella Sciorra, and Yul Vázquez. Also presented at the TWA ceremony was the third annual Dorothy Loudon Award for Excellence presented to Seth Numrich of War Horse.
