Enchantment Theatre Company's THE SNOW QUEEN Begins Today

Each year, Enchantment Theatre Company brings its theatrical magic to the holidays and this season will be no exception. The company is celebrating the return of their production of Hans Christian Andersen's The Snow Queen. The show will run today, December 13-January 4 at the Arts Bank, 601 South Broad Street. Tickets cost $16- $29 and are available at enchantmenttheatre.org or by phone at 215-496-9160.

This expanded season is being performed in creative venues throughout Harbor Country, including the Acorn Theater, Vickers Theatre, and the historic Lakeside Inn. Born in 1912, Woodrow Wilson Guthrie was often better known as the hobo poet from Oklahoma, Woody Guthrie. The musician named after an American president protested against capitalism, consumerism and commercialism, which portrays a witty irony in all that he did and the music he based his songwriting on. With this as the background, The Rep's Stackner Cabaret presents the captivating revue Woody Sez: The Life & Music of Woody Guthrie, a traveling show first produced at the 2009 Edinburgh Festival Fringe by the Melting Pot Theatre.

'Woody Sez' is recommended. The enthusiasm the talented performers have for sharing Woody's music (and his legacy) is infectious. If you're a fan of Woody, you are likely to love it. Even if you only remember singing "This Land is Your Land" in elementary school, this is still a show to see if you appreciate fine musicianship.

The American Repertory Theater (A.R.T.) today announced that Broadway actress Mimi Bessette is joining the cast of Woody Sez, a musical tapestry of the American folk hero's life and songs, devised by David M. Lutken with Nick Corley, performed by David M. Lutken, Darcie Deaville, Helen Jean Russell, and Andy Teirstein, directed by Nick Corley. Performances run through this weekend at the Loeb Drama Center, 64 Brattle Street, Cambridge.
