The Dance Magazine Awards 2015, held at the Ailey Citigroup Theater in NYC, was a night to honor five titans of the dance world. The presenters, recipients, and performers were a thrill to listen to, as well as, to watch their poise and movements.

American Ballet Theatre's The Nutcracker, co-presented by Segerstrom Center for the Arts and ABT, and choreographed by ABT Artist in Residence Alexei Ratmansky, will be given 14 performances at Segerstrom Center for the Arts, tonight, December 10-20, 2015.

The National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) has announced awards totaling more than $27.6 million in its first funding round of fiscal year 2016, including an Art Works award of $30,000 to University Musical Society (UMS) to support a multidisciplinary series of performances and related engagement programs.

The Auditorium Theatre presents Thodos Dance Chicago on Saturday, January 9, 2016 at 7:30 p.m. with the world premiere of Sono's Journey, choreographed by Founder and Artistic Director Melissa Thodos. This full company work artistically traces Japanese-American Sono Osato's path from her 1934 audition on the Auditorium Theatre stage that launched her dance career with Ballets Russe de Monte-Carlo at age 14, to her position today, at the age of 96, as one of the most inspirational, barrier-breaking artists in American Dance. Sono Osato and her family will be in attendance for this special performance. Many of Orange County's finest elementary, intermediate and senior high school vocal and music ensembles will add special notes of holiday cheer prior to performances of American Ballet Theatre's The Nutcracker at Segerstrom Center for the Arts December 10 - 20.

Segerstrom Center presents the Dover Quartet on Thursday, March 17 at 8 p.m. in Samueli Theater. The New Yorker recently dubbed the Dover Quartet "the young American string quartet of the moment," and The Strad raved that the quartet is "already pulling away from their peers with their exceptional interpretive maturity, tonal refinement and taut ensemble." For its Center debut, the Quartet will perform Mozart's String Quartet No. 17 in B-flat Major, K. 458; the Center premiere performance of French composer Dutilleux's "Ainsi la nuit" (1976) and Shostakovich's Quartet No. 2 in A Major, Op. 68. A free Preview Talk with musicologist and author Herbert Glass will take place at 7:15 p.m.

Juilliard Dance, under the direction of Lawrence Rhodes, opens its 2015-16 season this month with 'New Dances: Edition 2015' featuring four world-premiere dances by innovative choreographers Helen Simoneau (First-Year Dancers); Aszure Barton (Second-Year Dancers); Zvi Gotheiner (Third-Year Dancers); and Kyle Abraham(Fourth-Year Dancers).

The heartwarming PERÔ, OR MYSTERIES OF THE NIGHT, an adaptation of the popular children's book by French author Michel Tournier, will return to Segerstrom Center for the Arts February 20 & 21, 2016 with three performances.

Broadway veteran Cheyenne Jackson will make his Segerstrom Center for the Arts debut with his new show Hello Gorgeous: Cheyenne Jackson Goes To The Movies tonight, November 21, 2015 in the Renee and Henry Segerstrom Concert Hall. Jackson will perform musical gems from shows such as Gypsy and Little Shop of Horrors, as well as classic film favorites from Breakfast at Tiffany's, Casablanca, The Wizard of Oz and James Bond films.
