Japan Society's fourth annual JAPAN CUTS Festival of Contemporary Japanese Cinema screens 24 feature films--the most in the festival's history and the largest showcase of contemporary Japanese cinema globally this year. In addition to 8 features co-presented with the New York Asian Film Festival, JAPAN CUTS 2010 includes an array of Japan's best films from 2010 and 2009, and a special selection of the decade's best films never before released in the U.S. Made by both established and emerging directors and starring today's hottest actors and festival winners, most films in JAPAN CUTS 2010 are international, U.S., or New York premieres, and none are commercially available on DVD in the U.S.
Vereen, Rivera et al. Set for Hartford Stage in 2010-2011 Season

Hartford Stage has announced a dynamic 2010-2011 season which includes Tony winners Ben Vereen and Chita Rivera in their SummerStage program. Both will be presenting back to back solo shows each with one week runs at the Roberts Theatre just outside of Hartford. Rivera will play there June 22 to 27 and Vereen July 6 to 11.

Artistic Director Gregory Boyd announced that the Alley Theatre subscription season, the Theatre's 64th, will combine two world premieres, including Rajiv Joseph's psychological thriller The Medusa Body and Herbert Siguenza's new solo play A Weekend With Pablo Picasso, with new large-scale productions of Peter Pan, or The Boy Who Would Not Grow Up, the fantasy by J.M. Barrie, Pygmalion, George Bernard Shaw's great romantic comedy and Amadeus, Peter Shaffer's Tony Award-winning play.

The Trustees of The Laurents/Hatcher Foundation, Inc are proud to announce the LAURENTS / HATCHER FOUNDATION AWARD, an annual prize to be given for an un-produced, full-length play of social relevance by an emerging American playwright. The show pulls a bit from all the genres including suspense, romance, and action, blending them all together in this impressive adaptation. Most impressive of all is the cast of four actors who, against all odds, breathlessly and hilariously reenact each of the characters, locations, and famous scenes in Hitchcock's 1935 film thriller. These miraculous four are John Behlmann (as Richard Hannay,) Cameron Folmar (as Man #2,) Jamie Jackson (as Man #1,) and Kate MacCluggage (as Annabella Schmidt/Pamela/Margaret.)
