Two River Theater (TRT) continues their 20182019 season with August Wilson's King Hedley II, directed by Obie Award winner, Brandon J. Dirden. It will be performed on the Red Bank stage from November 10 to December 16. Broadwayworld.com had the pleasure of interviewing Brittany Bellizeare who plays Tonya in King Hedley II.

Harris Center Soweto Gospel Choir Honors Nelson Mandela

"Nothing can really prepare you for the riot of exuberance and depth of the emotion of the Soweto Gospel Choir" (The Scotsman). In this special program, South Africa's five-time Grammy Award-winning gospel choir celebrates the Nelson Mandela centenary. Drawing upon the best talent from churches in and around Soweto, the internationally acclaimed choir shares the unique and inspirational power of African Gospel music. "Spirited and spectacular"(New York Times), the concert is entitled Songs of the Free; it includes South African classics as well as freedom songs and gospel music much loved by Mandela, for whom the choir had the privilege of performing on multiple occasions.

The Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA) presented $3.25 million at their annual Grants Banquet held at The Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills, Calif. The evening was hosted by William H. Macy. Talent who accepted grants on behalf of nonprofit organizations included Alfonso Cuaron, Alfre Woodard, Amber Heard, Ben Hardy, Billy Porter, Charlize Theron, Chris Messina, Christian Slater, Cody Fern, Connie Britton, Cynthia Erivo, Dakota Fanning, Dawn-Lyen Gardner, Jason Bateman, Jason Reitman, Jennifer Garner, Joey King, John Cho, John David Washington, Lena Waithe, MJ Rodriguez, Nia Long, Rami Malek, Regina King, and Steve Carell.

The Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA) announced today the presenters for the HFPA's Annual Grants Banquet, taking place at The Beverly Hilton on Aug. 9. Presenters will include Alfonso Cuaron, Alfre Woodard, Amber Heard, Charlize Theron, Chris Messina, Christian Slater, Cody Fern, Connie Britton, Cynthia Erivo, Jason Reitman, Jennifer Garner, Joey King, John Cho, John David Washington, Lena Waithe, Nia Long, Rami Malek, Regina King, and Steve Carell. The event marks the biggest charitable evening of the year for the HFPA as the organization makes donations and awards grants, amounting to more than $30 million over the past 25 years.

On the Season Four premiere, Lucious makes his first public appearance after the explosion in Las Vegas, while all members of the Lyon family have their own interests in Lucious regaining his physical and mental faculties. Academy Award- and Golden Globe-winning actor, director and producer Forest Whitaker (“The Last King of Scotland,” “Arrival,” “Lee Daniels' The Butler”) will guest-star in a multi-episode arc on EMPIRE, beginning this fall on FOX. Whitaker will play “Uncle Eddie,” a charismatic music icon and bonafide hitmaker, who gave an unknown Lucious (Terrence Howard) his first radio airplay. Decades later, Eddie steps up for Lucious at a critical moment during his rehabilitation, and a grateful Cookie (Taraji P. Henson) invites him to produce a song in celebration of Empire Entertainment's 20th anniversary.
