Broadway In Chicago is thrilled to announce that five?time Tony Award winning PETER AND THE STARCATCHER, written by Tony Award nomineeRick Elice and directed by Tony Award?winner Roger Rees and Tony Award?nominee Alex Timbers, will play Chicago's Bank of America Theatre (18 West Monroe) from April 2 - 13, 2014.

#UntitledPopMusical, the new musical conceived and written by Michael Kimmel (The Last Goodbye), with music and lyrics by Drew Gasparini (Smash) will have it's debut concert at (Le) Poisson Rouge (158 Bleecker Street, between Thompson and Sullivan), June 24th 2013 at 7pm. The concert will feature Julia Mattison (Godspell), Lauren Pritchard (Spring Awakening), Lisa Brescia (Wicked, Mama Mia), Andrew Kober (Hair) and F. Michael Haynie (Wicked, Dogfight). Produced by the Wild Project, tickets are $20 and can be purchased at the door or at www.lprnyc.com.

Disney Theatrical Productions Bringing THE MUPPETS to Broadway in Live Stage Show?

According to Variety, Disney Theatrical Productions is exploring the idea of briging a live stage show featuring the Muppets to Broadway. A showcase was held on May 31 at the New Amsterdam Theatre with direction by Alex Timbers. Over 85 Muppets were used in the experimental project, which was held to determine if it would be possible to accommodate ' puppetry needs with audience sightlines and all the other physical demands of legit theater.'

New Ohio Theatre and Artistic Director Robert Lyons will host a Sunset Benefit Cocktail Party, celebrating 20 years of presenting some of the most innovative and cutting-edge downtown theatre in their Obie Award-winning Ice Factory summer festival. The event takes place on Thursday, June 20 from 7pm - 10pm on the rooftop of the historic Archive Building at 666 Greenwich Street in the West Village.

Public Theater Extends VENICE Through June 30

The Public Theater (Artistic Director, Oskar Eustis; Executive Director, Patrick Willingham) announced a one week extension today for the new Public Lab musical VENICE, with book by Eric Rosen, music by Matt Sax, lyrics by Matt Sax and Eric Rosen, additional music by Curtis Moore, and choreography by Chase Brock. Directed by Eric Rosen, VENICE began performances on Tuesday, May 28 and was originally scheduled to close on Sunday, June 23. It will now run an additional week through Sunday, June 30.

Chance Theater presents the third show of its 15th Anniversary Season - the hilarious and irreverent emo rock musical Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson by Alex Timbers, with music and lyrics by Michael Friedman, and directed by Kari Hayter. Dubbed the season of 'ART Inside the Box', the company has moved from Bittner Hall into the basement of 16 Linwood location and has converted it into a black box theater performance space. ART/WNY decision to move from Bittner Hall into this space allows the company more flexibility with productions scheduled for the 2013-14 season as well as allows ART/WNY more of a permenent presences in the space. 'We can build, create and light environments without the overhanging pressure to tear it down and reset the whole thing, from platforms to light grid, for each production.' Added Executive/Artistic Director Matthew LaChiusa. 'That's going to add to the production values of each piece as well as make it more of a engaging experience for patrons.'

CARRIE, ANDREW JACKSON, & More Among Minneapolis Musical Theatre & Hennepin Theatre Trust's 2013-14 Season!

Minneapolis Musical Theatre and Hennepin Theatre Trust announced today that MMT's 2013-14 season will feature Twin Cities debuts of Carrie The Musical, Five Course Love and Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson at the Trust's New Century Theatre. Carrie The Musical, based on Stephen King's bestselling novel, runs October 4-27, 2013. Five Course Love, a quintet of humorous and witty vignettes about true love, plays January 24-February 16, 2014. The comedic rock musical Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson will run June 6-29, 2014. This trio of shows will be directed by Steven Meerdink, Minneapolis Musical Theatre's artistic director. Subscription packages are on sale now for $66 and are available online at www.hennepintheatretrust.org/mmt, by calling 612.455.9501 or in person at the New Century Theatre Box Office (ground floor of City Center in downtown Minneapolis). Individual tickets will go on sale at a later date.

The Public Theater's Shakespeare in the Park THE COMEDY OF ERRORS to Begin Previews Tonight Despite Rain

The Public Theater (Artistic Director, Oskar Eustis; Executive Director, Patrick Willingham) will begin previews tonight, May 28 for THE COMEDY OF ERRORS, the first show of The Public's 2013 season of free Shakespeare in the Park at the Delacorte. Directed by Daniel Sullivan, THE COMEDY OF ERRORS will feature Jesse Tyler Ferguson and Hamish Linklater as Dromio and Antipholus respectively and will run through Sunday, June 30. According to a notice from the Public Theater, no performance will be canceled before 8:30pm, even if it's raining. A performance might be delayed, but will perform if and when possible and safe for the actors.

The Public Theater (Artistic Director, Oskar Eustis; Executive Director, Patrick Willingham) announced additional casting today for the 2013 season of free Shakespeare in the Park at the Delacorte. This summer, all performances for THE COMEDY OF ERRORS and LOVE'S LABOUR'S LOST, A NEW MUSICAL will begin at 8:30 p.m. with running times of approximately 90 minutes, no intermission.

Kait Kerrigan, Joe Iconis and More Set for Rhinebeck Writers Retreat

Kathy Evans, Founder and Executive Director, announced the nine musicals and eighteen writers selected for the third summer of the Rhinebeck Writers Retreat. For nine consecutive weeks beginning June 23rd, each writing team will have an individual weeklong residency in Rhinebeck, New York to write their musical. All costs are fully funded by donors including The ASCAP Foundation, The Dramatists Guild Fund, and The Noel Coward Foundation. Writers include Tony-winners and nominees Duncan Sheik (Spring Awakening), and Heidi Rodewald and Stew (Passing Strange), and multi-award winners Adam Gwon, Laura Harrington, Joe Iconis, Kait Kerrigan, and Brian Lowdermilk.

HERE LIES LOVE Extends at the Public Through July 28

Due to overwhelming demand, The Public Theater announced a final four-week extension for the critically acclaimed world premiere musical Here Lies Love, with concept and lyrics by David Byrne, music by David Byrneand Fatboy Slim, additional music by Tom Gandey and J Pardo, and choreography by Annie-B Parson. Directed by Alex Timbers, Here Lies Love officially opened on Tuesday, April 23 and has been extended a fourth and final time to Sunday, July 28.
