by Pat Cerasaro
- Nov 8, 2013
Pitting two of the most influential and instrumental pop culture icons of modern music against one another, GLEE's 'A Katy Or A Gaga', written by Russel Friend and Garrett Lerner, directed by Ian Brennan, was a welcome return for the series following the short hiatus following the third episode of the season and the last time we ventured to the halls of McKinley High with the Cory Monteith tribute episode. So, with which pop superstar do your affections actually reside at the end of the day - Katy Perry or Lady Gaga? After all, that's what this week's ep was all about! Well, that and the debut of guest star Adam Lambert!
Glee-Cap: A Katy or A Gaga?
by Robert Lawlor
- Nov 7, 2013
Alright, Gleeks – do you live for the applause or do you want us to hear you roar? Well, Gleeks, it's time to answer the age old question – are you a Katy or a Gaga? Are you teenage dreaming tonight or are all you all about the fame? Tonight, Glee roars back with a dash of Prism and a pop of ArtPop – oh, and some dude named Adam Lambert is guest starring. Like anyone knows who he is, right? Be prepared to pick a side, Gleeks – it's on Katy Kats (or are you Katy Tigers?) and Little Monsters!
After finding about competing against Throat Explosion for Nationals, the New Directions are challenged by Mr. Schue to channel their inner Gagas and Katy Perrys to really bring it to the Throat Explosion level. Kurt is pushing forward with his band idea, and recruits Dani and Santana, but Rachel is more focused on Funny Girl and trying to move on after Finn's passing. Sam finds that he and his crush Penny are pretty different – Skrillex and True Jackson VP don't exactly mesh, but deciding to channel his inner Gaga, Sam is determined to make himself less a Katy, more of a Gaga for his lady. Artie and Kitty continue to adjust to life as couple, while Becky taunts away about Artie being her sloppy seconds. Kurt's auditions for his new band don't go over too well when a scene stealing star named Star Child (Adam Lambert) brings a little “Marry The Night” and leaves Kurt green with envy. Queen Gaga Hummel may have just been out Gagaed – oh snap!

Earlier today, popular Glee star and Broadway headliner Darren Criss generously participated in my ongoing InDepth InterView series and offered his candid perspective on many upcoming episodes of the hit musical dramedy series, also briefly commenting on the recent rumors of a re-positioned focus for Glee S5 and S6 or maybe even a full-blown New York City-set spin-off series centering on the characters of Rachel, Kurt and Santana - portrayed by Lea Michele, Chris Colfer and Naya Rivera, respectively - coming up in the future and whether or not Criss could become a part of that mix, particularly given his character's long-established romantic affiliation with Kurt.

Broadway superstar and recording artist, Shoshana Bean, has joined forces with Todrick Hall to release their latest YouTube video: Spell Block Tango. The belting diva has taken on the role of Cruella De Vil in this hilarious and star-studded parody. Other stars that grace the small screen are Adam Lambert and Amber Riley from Glee. Bean plays the fashion-obsessed De Vil with a twist. In her rendition, De Vil is doing a little jail time for the murder of Horace and Jasper for failing to meet her fashion demands. They just didn't know their fabrics. De Vil wasn't having it.
