Tthe 55th Annual Drama Desk Awards ceremony will take place on Sunday, May 23, 2010 at the F.H. LaGuardia Concert Hall at Lincoln Center. Former Drama Desk Award winner Patti LuPone will host the awards ceremony.

The Tony Awards Administration Committee met today for the fourth and final time this season to decide the eligibility of thirteen Broadway productions for the 2010 American Theatre Wing's Tony Awards®, presented by The Broadway League and The American Theatre Wing. The thirteen productions discussed included: Come Fly Away; Red; Lend Me a Tenor; The Addams Family; Million Dollar Quartet; La Cage Aux Folles; American Idiot; Sondheim on Sondheim; Promises, Promises; Fences; Enron; Collected Stories and Everyday Rapture.

National Theatre Features Stephens, Amuka-Bird & Harewood in 2010 Productions

The National Theatre has announced casting for its upcoming productions, starting with Moira Buffini's WELCOME TO THEBES which will run starting June 15. Nikki Amuka-Bird and David Harewood will star in the World Premiere of the play, which tells the Greek myth of the first democratically elected president of Thebes in a modernized way. The show will be directed by Richard Eyre and the cast will also feature Madeline Appiah, Rakie Ayola, Omar Brown, Jessie Burton, Jacqueline Defferary, Daniel Fine, Karlina Grace, Rene Gray, Tracy Ifeachor, Irma Inniss, Chuk Iwuji, Alexia Khadime, Ferdinand Kingsley, Aicha Kossoko, Simon Manyonda, Bruce Myers, Pamela Nomvete, Calre Perkins, Victor Power, Daniel Poyser, Joy Richardson, Vinette Robinson, Zara Tempest-Walters, and Michael Wildman.

New York Magazine recently featured an article where theatre critic Stephanie Zacharek and art critic Jerry Saltz debate about the recently opened play RED by John Logan, surrounding the life of abstract expressionist Mark Rothko. Zacharek and Saltz discussed certain moments of the play and how they feel about the play's treatment of Rothko's life and work.

Artistic Director of the internationally acclaimed Donmar Warehouse, Michael Grandage, today announced new details surrounding the new Donmar season through until February 2011 including. Casting has been announced for Polar Bears; David Leveaux has been pronounced director of Simon Gray's The Late Middle Class; von Kleist's The Prince of Homburg has been added to the season; new events in celebration of Sondheim's 80th birthday - in addition to the production of Passion - have been revealed; and Michael Grandage has been confirmed to direct Derek Jacobi in King Lear.
