The World Premiere of Lans Traverse's comedic drama THE KISS OF THE SUN FOR PARDON will have a Champagne Celebration on Thursday, March 26 at the Detroit Repertory Theatre at 8:30 PM. Opening Nights at the Rep are always full of camaraderie and celebration.

PLUTO, the new play by Steve Yockey now playing at Forum Theatre as part of the National New Play Network's Rolling World Premier, is laden with mythological symbols scattered about a most ordinary looking kitchen inhabited by a seemingly normal mom and her 20ish-year-old son. There is the three-headed dog, Cerebus, named for the mythological creature that guarded the underworld. There is Death, who, grim-reaper like, rumbles behind the door of the ordinary looking refrigerator, seeking access to the latest of the newly dead. And then, there is the macabre backstory of the young man's father who died laughing hysterically in his sleep, clad in the new green pajamas sold to him by Death as a salesman at the local mall.

The Robert F. Kennedy Center for Justice and Human Rights (RFKCenter.org) launched its Seventh Annual Ripple of Hope Holiday Auction with support from some of the world's most recognizable celebrities spanning entertainment, sports, music, and politics. The online auction is open to bidders internationally through December 17 at RFKAUCTION.COM. Proceeds will support the RFK Center's work to empower fearless human rights defenders and inspire a new generation of defenders through its human rights curriculum.

Nearly everyone is familiar with the tale of CINDERELLA. You've either been read the story as a child, or perhaps viewed one of the many movie versions. It's just one of those things that seems to creep into our subconscious through osmosis. In fact, variations continue to pop up in books and films to this day. It's even become part of our language; the so-called 'Cinderella stories',which find people (often athletes) triumphing over adversity. No stranger to divisive topics or candid conversation, Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Mamet (American Buffalo, Glengarry Glen Ross) takes on the explosive subject of race relations. When two cynical lawyers-one black and one white-prepare to defend a powerful white businessman accused of raping a young black woman, they must confront their own perceptions and prejudices. Legal and ethical lines are crossed as shocking revelations come to light. But when their client's case takes a series of unexpected turns, they realize that not everyone is who they seem in this world of shame and guilt.
