Fort Greene Preparatory Academy(FGPA), a Brooklyn-based public middle school committed to the development of intellectual independence, self-confident and responsible leaders, celebrates 10 years of education of the youth of Fort Greene. Opened in 2010 with a commitment to provide a forward thinking and inclusive education, the academy will host Ready to Rise, a summer block party on Saturday, June 15, featuring student performances, food and fun for all ages.

Flushing Town Hall held its 39th Anniversary Gala on Thursday, June 7th, honoring Howard Graf, Graf & Lewent Architects, LLP, 1st annual Creative Design and Architecture Award; President Felix V. Matos Rodriguez, Queens College, CUNY; and, 9P Community Volunteers.

The phrase "community theatre" rarely inspires such vibrant dramatics and joyful pageantry as when the Public Theater's Public Works program takes the Delacorte stage.

The Public Work's original musical adaptaion of The Winter's Tale, conceived and directed by Lear deBessonet, with music and lyrics by Todd Almond, and choreography by Chase Brock, runs for three nights only starting tonight through Sunday, September 7 at the Delacorte Theater in Central Park. The Public Theater will begin free performances for the community-based Public Works production of Shakespeare's THE WINTER'S TALE, conceived and directed by Obie Award winner Lear deBessonet, with music and lyrics by Todd Almond, and choreography by Chase Brock on Friday, September 5. This original musical adaption will run for three nights only through Sunday, September 7 at the Delacorte Theater in Central Park. Free tickets will be distributed, two per person, at 12:00 p.m. on the day of the show at the Delacorte Theater and via the Virtual Ticketing lottery at www.publictheater.org.

On Monday, March 10, 2014, the League of Professional Theatre Women (LPTW), a not-for-profit organization committed to promoting visibility and increasing opportunities for women in the professional theatre, is pleased to recognize the talents of six outstanding women: Zoe Caldwell, Judith Dolan, Joanna Sherman, Sondra Gorney, Meiyin Wang and Katherine Kovner. The awards will be presented at the League's 2014 Awards Celebration & Big Mingle Reception to be held at 6:30 pm on Monday, March 10 at The Irene Diamond Stage (The Pershing Square Signature Center, 480 West 42nd Street) featuring emcee Tamara Tunie.

Children of all ages are invited to the 14th Annual Winter's Eve at Lincoln Square - New York City's largest outdoor holiday festival hosted by the Lincoln Square Business Improvement District (BID). Theevening of family fun will kick off with a performance by Tony Award Winning, renowned Broadway star, Brian Stokes Mitchell accompanied by Rosie's Theater Kids, Frank London's Klezmer Brass All Stars, Bond Street Theatre's Shinbone Alley Stilt Walking Band, and WABC-TV's Sade Baderinwa at the Upper West Side neighborhood's holiday tree lighting ceremony beginning at 5:30pm at the main stage in Dante Park at Broadway & 63rd Street. This year's 35 foot Norway Spruce and festive lights have been generously donated by local restaurateur PJ Clarke's. The Winter's Eve festival is free, open to the public and will take place on Monday, December 2nd from 5:30 - 9:00 p.m. along Broadway from Time Warner Center to 68th Street with activities for the whole family.

The Lincoln Square Business Improvement District (BID) hosts the 14th annual Winter's Eve at Lincoln Square, New York's largest outdoor holiday festival on Monday, December 2nd from 5:30PM-9:00PM to kick-off the holiday season! This year's highly-anticipated event is expected to attract thousands of people to the Lincoln Square area and light up the entire Upper West Side. There will be over 20 live performance areas, more than 30 restaurants offering tastings and many great performers including Tony Award Winning, renowned Broadway stars, Brian Stokes Mitchell and Bebe Neuwirth headlining the festival. Other performances include: the sultry songstress and rising jazz star Brianna Thomas Quartet, world renowned DJ David Chang, Frank London's Klezmer Brass All-Stars, Indie Flamenco and Folk Rock band City of the Sun,GRAMMY nominated Brooklyn-based children's band The Pop Ups, the talentedLaGuardia High School Show Choir, ice sculpting, Alice Farley Dance Theater, Bond Street Theatre's Shinbone Alley Stilt Band, Asphalt Orchestra, and Jazz at Lincoln Center just to name a few. Rory O'Malley, the Tony-nominated actor in THE BOOK OF MORMON, will be singing the National Anthem on March 18 before 15,000 runners competing in the seventh NYC Half Marathon.

The Shinbone Alley Stilt Band will play the Cornelia Street Cafe on July 4 as a celebration of the cafe's 33rd birthday. The celebration will last all day with a performance from the band at 2 PM.
