Possum Point Players to Present Stage Adaptation of LAURA, 1/31-2/9
Possum Point Players brings the brilliant murder mystery "LAURA" to their Possum Hall stage beginning Friday, January 31, 2014. The story of LAURA is best known from the 1944 American film noir version directed by Otto Preminger. It stared Gene Tierney, Dana Andrews, Clifton Webb, Vincent Price and Judith Anderson. The screenplay by Jay Dratler, Samuel Hoffenstein, and Elizabeth Reinhardt was based on the 1943 novel of the same title by Vera Caspary. Joseph LaShelle won the Academy Award for Best Black and White Cinematography for this film.
Laura Screened During The Academy's Oscar Noir 5/24
'Laura' (1944), the tale of a police detective who falls in love with the woman whose murder he's investigating, will be screened as the next feature in the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences' series 'Oscar Noir: 1940s Writing Nominees from Hollywood's Dark Side' on Monday, May 24, at 7:30 p.m. at the Academy's Samuel Goldwyn Theater.
