Last night at The Harry Chapin Lakeside Theater at Eisenhower Park, Nassau County Department of Parks and Recreation presented Neil Berg's 100+ Years of Broadway for the 15th year! Over 10,000 people were treated to a concert featuring five acclaimed Broadway performers singing a mixture of Broadway and pop/rock songs that fit the climate of what is happening in our world today. Featuring Craig Schulman (Les Miserables, Phantom of the Opera), Carter Calvert (It Ain't Nothin' but the Blues, CATS), and Rita Harvey (Phantom of the Opera), Danny Zolli (Jesus Christ Superstar) and Roosevelt Andre Credit (Big River, Porgy and Bess).

Musical Theatre Factory (MTF) will present a developmental workshop of GUMBO with book & lyrics by Christina Quintana and music by Brett Macias.

On May 12th company members from the national tour of The Gershwin's Porgy and Bess presented Inspired By Love: The Music of Brett Macias Upstairs at Vitellos, benefiting Artists Striving to End Poverty (ASTEP). Inspired By Love featured selections from composer Brett Macias's musicals Gumbo, Beautiful Dreamer, and Beneath the Surface as well as a world premiere song cycle based on the love sonnets of Pablo Neruda. The National Tour of THE GERSHWINS' PORGY AND BESS, winner of the 2012 Tony Award for Best Musical Revival, will star original Broadway cast members ALICIA HALL MORANas Bess, NATHANIEL STAMPLEY as Porgy and PHILLIP BOYKIN as Crown. The tour will also feature Broadway cast members SUMAYYA ALI as Clara, DAN BARNHILL as the Detective, BRYONHA MARIE PARHAM as Serena, ALLISON BLACKWELL as a Woman of Catfish Row, ROOSEVELT ANDRE CREDIT as a Fisherman and JOSEPH DELLGER as the Policeman. Complete casting will be announced this summer.

The Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum, along with the City of New York and the United States Navy, celebrates the 25th annual Fleet Week, now through May 28, 2012. Fleet Week is America's premier tribute and "thank you" to the men and women who serve in the armed forces. A.R.T.'s soaring pre-Broadway revision of 'The Gershwin's Porgy and Bess' offers many grace notes and an exquisite cast

A.R.T. American Repertory Theater (A.R.T.) will present The Gershwins' Porgy and Bess, opening the A.R.T.'s 2011-2 season on August 117 at the Loeb Drama Center. The Gershwin's Porgy and Bess, by George Gershwin, DuBose and Dorothy Heyward, and Ira Gershwin, is adapted by Suzan-Lori Parks and Diedre Murray, and directed by A.R.T. Artistic Director Diane Paulus.
