The winners of the 13th Annual Suzi Bass Awards have been decided!

The Suzi Bass Awards revealed nominations for the 2016-2017 Atlanta professional theatre season on Monday evening, September 18, to patrons and industry artists.

Rehearsals are underway for Alliance Theatre's upcoming production of Shakespeare in Love, based on the 1998 film that won seven Academy Awards including Best Picture. Georgia Shakespeare co-founder and Artistic Director Richard Garner is directing this love letter to William Shakespeare in his company's former home at Oglethorpe University's Conant Performing Arts Center while the Alliance Theatre undergoes a complete renovation. Performances are August 30 - September 24, 2017.  Opening night is Today, September 6. Inspired by a true story, this fast-paced tale of science, secrets and lies unfolds on the Horizon Theatre stage October 9- November 8. With science and belief pitted against one another, the question, 'Is my DNA really my history and my destiny?' is asked.

There has barely been a bad word said about this show since it debuted on Broadway in 2012 (racking up seven Tony nominations), but because I didn't know much about it, I took a while to settle into the comedic rhythm of Georgia Shakespeare's production of ONE MAN, TWO GUVNORS. However, once I realized that the show was far more farcical than I at first realized, it became one of the most laugh-out-loud, joyous nights of theatre I have had in years. So, if you go and see this show (which you absolutely should) simply give into the goofiness; you will thank me when you do.

Georgia Shakespeare announces the opening of One Man, Two Guvnors, the third show in the three-show summer season at the Conant Performing Arts Center tonight, July 11, 8pm curtain. The show is directed by Drew Fracher. One Man, Two Guv'nors runs until July 27.
