Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra And Cincinnati Pops Launch THE FANFARE PROJECT


The Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra (CSO) and Cincinnati Pops today announced a new initiative, The Fanfare Project, borne of the Orchestra's heritage as a champion of the music of its time and of the role of music to unite us in uncertain times. The inspiration for the initiative is Aaron Copland's Fanfare for the Common Man, commissioned by CSO Music Director Eugene Goossens in 1942 in support of Allied efforts and as a testament to the American spirit during World War II. The Orchestra gave the world premiere on March 12, 1943. 

GVO Will Present its Annual Holiday Concert


The Greenwich Village Orchestra (GVO) presents its annual holiday concert, led by Music Director Barbara Yahr and Associate Conductor Eric Mahl, on Sunday, December 8, 2019 at 3:00pm at All Saints Church. The concert's theme is Partnerships and Collaboration and features a side-by-side performance with student musicians from the 3rd Street Music School. The family-friendly program opens with Vivaldi's Flute Concerto in E-minor, with the GVO's own Simon Dratfield as soloist. The students from 3rd Street Music School join the GVO for Karl Jenkins' Palladio. Next, Eric Mahl leads the orchestra in the March from Prokofiev's Love for Three Oranges. Young violinist Ben Lerman performs the first movement of Tchaikovsky's Violin Concerto in D-major. The concert concludes with the finale of Rimsky-Korsakov's Scheherezade, featuring the high school students from the 3rd Street Music School.

Violinist Gil Shaham To Perform With CSO


International violinist sensation, Gil Shaham, will perform at Music Hall November 8 and 9 with the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra (CSO) under Music Director Louis Langrée in Petrouchka + Tchaikovsky. The Saturday evening concert (Nov 9 at 8 pm) is SOLD OUT, but good seats are still available for the Friday night performance (Nov 8 at 8 pm).

The program features longtime Metropolitan Opera Orchestra violinist Ming-Feng Hsin leading the GVO in Dvo k's moving Romance and as soloist in Glazunov's elegant Violin Concerto. The concert concludes with Rachmaninoff's rhapsodic Third Symphony.

The ensemble-focused program features the award-winning Lysander Piano Trio (Itamar Zorman, Liza Stepanova, Michael Katz) in Beethoven's lyrical Triple Concerto. GVO to Perform Verdi's Requiem with St. George's Choral Society


On Sunday, April 29, 2018 at 2:30pm, the Greenwich Village Orchestra (GVO) returns to the beautiful 19th-century Church of the Incarnation (209 Madison Ave.) for its final concert of the season, Requiem Aeternam. The GVO joins forces with St. George's Choral Society, under artistic director and conductor Matthew Lewis, for Verdi's epic Requiem. Requiem's soloists will feature soprano Rebecca Farley, mezzo-soprano Raehann Bryce-Davis, tenor Jonathan Tetelman, and bass Christian Zaremba.
