Marga van Rooy

Following the death of South African actress Marga van Rooy yesterday, Frans Swart, the managing director of Lefra Productions paid tribute to the star of VETKOEKPALEIS, MOLLY & WORS and 'N PAW-PAW VIR MY DARLING. The 75-year-old veteran of stage, television and screen passed away following a battle with cancer.

Lefra Productions's Afrikaans adaptation of Ray Cooney and John Chapman's acclaimed West End farce, THERE GOES THE BRIDE, will be staged at Carnival City's Mardi Gras Theatre this July. Translated and adapted by Frans Swart with a delightfully local flavour, DAA' GAAT DIE BRUID! promises to be a side-splittingly funny show.

With Lefra Productions and RSG's Oppiwater Arts Festival selling out almost a year in advance, fans of Afrikaans theatre will be pleased to know that bookings for the 2017 edition of this popular and unique floating arts festival are now open.

Lefra Productions will host a mini-festival at the Roodepoort Theatre with four top productions on stage from 12 April - 7 May.

An extra performance has been scheduled for 28 March to accommodate the demand for tickets for this production.
