And nobody facilitates those dreams quite like the Broadway Dreams Foundation. We welcomed the Broadway Dreams Foundation to Sessions recently to celebrate on the week of their annual NYC showcase. Join us were BDF faculty members Quentin Earl Darrington, Christopher Hanke, MiMi Scardulla, Todd Buonopane, Noah Ricketts, Galen Williams and more. Beyond that, we were thrilled to welcome international BDF students from Russia, Brazil and Sweden who brought the house all the way down. Showtunes in foreign languages! The show is created and hosted by Ben Cameron (Bway Wicked, Aida and Footloose) and features musical director Joshua Stephen Kartes on piano. This Thursday night, November 16th, Broadway Sessions celebrates the Broadway Dreams Foundation with performances by BDF faculty members as well as BDF students and international guests.
Cast members from the ill-fated return of Motown on Broadway reunited at Broadway Sessions recently and proved that the closing was way too soon. Cast members Allison Semmes, Elijah Ahmed Lewis, Galen Williams, Jarvis Manning Jr., Leon Outlaw Jr., Talya Groves, Trisha Jeffrey, Nicholas Ryan, Olivia Puckett and Motown cast member turned Hamltlon caster Nik Walker were nothing short of multi platinum! The Philadelphia stop of the Motown tour was particularly special for three of the smash-hit musical's cast members, Rodney Earl Jackson, Melanie Evans, and Galen Williams. All three performers met as students of the Broadway Dreams Foundation (BDF), a national non-profit performing arts training program, at Philadelphia's Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts. Through BDF the students were able to hone their performance skills, working alongside Broadway directors, choreographers. They also had the opportunity to make valuable connections with industry insiders, including casting directors Craig Burns and Rachel Hoffman, whose firm Telsey + Company cast the Motown tour.
