Frank Farrell has been an actor, director and playwright for 40 years in New York City and Chicago. In Chicago he has appeared at Second City, Steppenwolf, Goodman and Victory Gardens. He has formed 7 theatre companies through the years including Theatre-Hikes in Chicago, Pigeon Creek Shakespeare in Michigan and First Flight in New York City. He recently wrote and directed the play Forgotten Soldiers From Our Forgotten War performed in New York City in November 2018.

SEA-WIFE Performance Held in Support of Season of Concern


First Flight presents a NEW play by Maxwell Anderson: Sea-Wife. Presented as a staged reading featuring 17 actors, Sea-Wife's one-time performance is a benefit for Chicago's Season of Concern, an organization that helps Chicago theatre professionals in times of need. Written by Anderson in 1924 Sea-Wife was never published and it has never been professionally performed. Set in the 1800s on an island off the coast of Maine and based on the poem The Forsaken Merman by Matthew Arnold (1822 - 1888), the play depicts 24 hours of turmoil for the inhabitants of an insulated fishing community and the myth of mermen many of them believe in. The benefit performance date is Sunday December 16, 2018 at 6 p.m. at the iO Theater, 1501 N Kingsbury St, in Chicago. Suggested donation is $20 and tickets are available at the door. At 83, the Second City founding member, Tony-award winning performer, and Oscar-nominated actor Barbara Harris passed away on August 21st of this year. Under the direction of Alex Beck (Disney's The Happiest Millionaire 50th Anniversary) and the music direction of Andy Roninson (Take a Ten Podcast), The Green Room 42  presented an evening of song and remembrance with 'Gorgeous: A Barbara Harris Tribute' on October 2nd.

Citadel Theatre To Perform Moliere's SCAPIN Outdoors


Citadel Theatre will continue its practice of producing classic theatre in bucolic Lake County outdoor settings with this summer's production of SCAPIN, the 17th Century farce by Moliere. SCAPIN will be directed by Frank Farrell, who helmed the company's previous summer productions of Shakespeare's ROMEO AND JULIET, AS YOU LIKE IT, and A MIDSUMMER NIGHT'S DREAM; and SPOON RIVER ANTHOLOGY, Farrell's musical dramatic adaptation of Edgar Lee Masters' poetry. Farrell, well-known to Citadel audiences for his portrayals of Dickens' Scrooge in both 2011 and in 2017, has written a new adaptation of the comedy for this production.
