CW Seed Lands Licensing Agreement With BBC Studios


 CW Seed, The CW's free, ad-supported digital network, has acquired the second window, non-exclusive streaming rights to 14 series from BBC Studios. The pact will bring more than 200 episodes and 150 hours of scripted library content to the platform. The announcement was made today by Rick Haskins, Executive Vice President, Marketing and Digital Platforms, The CW.

The Neighborhood House program of Christ Church Preservation Trust, a catalyst for the arts at historic Christ Church, presents five free world premiere performances of In Plain Air, a work in multiple movements by composers Nathan Davis and Phyllis Chen that marks the culmination of the International Contemporary Ensemble's year-long residency in celebration of Christ Church's new C.B. Fisk pipe organ, Opus 150. Performances will take place at Christ Church today, September 22 at 1pm, 3:30pm, and 6pm and on Sunday, September 23 at 3:30pm and 6pm. Movements employing Christ Church's historic bells, custom instruments, and itinerant musicians will convey audiences across the entire Christ Church campus before introducing them to Opus 150. Presented in partnership with FringeArts, all performances of In Plain Air will be free. Major support for In Plain Air has been provided by The Pew Center for Arts & Heritage.

Next Saturday, September 7, the New London Maritime Society--Custom House Maritime Museum presents an illustrated lighthouse talk by Henry L. Ferguson Museum director Pierce Rafferty. The last special event of the museum's 2013 Summer Lighthouse Saturdays, the talk will examine Race Rock Light, from concept to completion, while celebrating the engineering feat accomplished by Francis Hopkinson Smith and his partner in construction, Capt. T. A. Scott of New London. The lecture takes place Saturday, September 7 at 4 PM at the Custom House Maritime Museum. Reservations are required; call 860-447-2501. Donation of $8 benefits both the Ledge Light Foundation and NL Harbor Light Restoration Fund.
