Eliza Ventura is the Artistic Director and Co-Founder of CAP21. She is an actor and producer. Off Broadway and Regional absolute favorite acting credits include: opposite Rosemary Prinz in KILLING LOUISE, directed by Michael Montel (CAP21), Tom Riis Farrell in LAUGHING WILD (Capital Rep Co.), Robert Lupone in A MIDSUMMER NIGHT’S DREAM, Martin LaPlatney in AND THE WORLD GOES ROUND and Sam Coppola in Jerry Mayer’s ASPIRIN AND ELEPHANTS (American Stage Co.), Mark LaMura in MALICE AFORETHOUGHT (Boston’s Chiswick Theatre) opposite Oni Faida Lampley in POLICE BOYS (Playwrights Horizons), EVE IS INNOCENT by Leonard Melfi (The Writers and Directors Theatre), UNCOMMON WOMEN AND OTHERS (Circle Repertory Co.), Samm-Art Williams’ BRASS BIRDS DON’T SING, (Manhattan Theatre Club), ANDROMACHE opposite Joanne Camp (The Pearl Theatre), Michael Weller’s FISHING (The Westbeth Theatre Center), CLYTEMNESTRA opposite Joanna Merlin (Cubiculo), opposite Don Silva in DOMINO COURTS AND COMANCHE CAFE (Westside Mainstage Theatre) and in Steven Sater’s ASYLUM directed by Adam Davidson (Naked Angels). InProximity Theatre Company (Jolie Curtsinger, Laurie Schaefer Fenton, Co-Artistic Directors) is proud to announce the cast for this year's second annual PROJECT W Theatre Festival which includes work by Darcy Parker Bruce, Mathilde Dratwa, Christina Gorman, Donna Hoke, Kara Emily Krantz and recently added Ann Marie Shea.PROJECT W Theatre Festival will take place June 4-9, 2018 with readings starting June 5, and will kick-off with an opening night, invite-only party on June 4, 2018 at Town Stages  (5 White Street).  Tickets are FREE to attend but reservations are strongly recommended. CAP21 Partners With RKO Stage to Develop Five New Musicals


CAP21 Theatre Company and RKO Stage have partnered to develop 5 new musicals inspired by RKO's classic film library over the next two years. CAP21 has designed a year-long developmental process during which writing teams are able to complete a strong first draft of a new musical. During each cycle, writers will participate in CAP21's signature New Works Development Program, a comprehensive process that includes: Process Meetings, Writers Residencies, Roundtable Readings, Read-Thru/Sing-Thru Table Readings and Concert Readings. With this new partnership CAP21 is receiving funding to establish the residency.

CAP21 Receives Grant from National Endowment for the Arts


National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) Acting Chairman Joan Shigekawa announced today that Collaborative Arts Project 21 (CAP21) is one of 886 nonprofit organizations nationwide to receive an NEA Art Works grant. CAP21 is recommended for a $10,000 grant to support CAP21's New Artist and New Works Development Program.

CAP21 Writers Residency Opens for Submissions for January 2014


Applications are now being accepted for the January 2014 installment of the tri­annual CAP21 Writers Residency , focusing on new musicals. The CAP21 Writers Residency is offered by CAP21 as an opportunity for a concentrated time and place to be artistically productive in a focused atmosphere while remaining in NYC . It will take place for a 1­2 week period ( Jan 6th ­ 17 ) depending on the needs of the writers. During the length of the residency, selected writing teams are provided a beautiful studio space at CAP21 in New York City , complete with a piano and wireless internet , between the hours of 10am and 6pm , Monday through Friday .

The CAP21 June 2013 Writers Residency launches today and features 12 writers devoted to creating new work. Each writer is awarded 80 hours of free space, a stipend, and guidance from the Artistic Director, Eliza Ventura. Selected writers are chosen and given the opportunity to begin or further develop new musicals or plays in a supportive and focused environment.

CAP21 Theatre Company Celebrates 20th Anniversary, Announces Upcoming Season


As the CAP21 Theatre Company celebrates their 20th Anniversary, Executive Artistic Director, Frank Ventura and Artistic Director, Eliza Ventura have announced CAP21's 2012-2013 ambitious "Season of New Work", which promises to further develop at least 20 new musicals in the coming year through various programming that the Theatre Company offers. Additionally the upcoming year will include two Off-Off Broadway productions: Maiden Voyage (working title) by musical team Michelle Elliott and Danny Larsen and Recount (working title), a co-production with Rescue Agreement. Both productions are being developed through CAP21 programs and resources.
