Planet Ant Theatre will welcome the 2013 winner of Box Fest Detroit, Kennikki Jones-Jones to direct its next Late Night Series production The Algorithm, an original one-act play debuting Friday, January 31 with performances Friday and Saturday evenings at 9:00pm and Sunday afternoons at 2:00pm through February 16. Planet Ant is set to open its 2013-14 season Friday, September 6 with David Mamet's November. This new Oval Office satire depicts one day in the life of a beleaguered American commander-in-chief. It's November in a Presidential election year, and incumbent Charles Smith's chances for reelection are looking grim. Approval ratings are down, his money's running out, and nuclear war may be imminent. November is a scathingly hilarious take on the state of America today and the lengths to which people will go to win. Featuring Seth Amadei* (Dearborn), Dave Davies (Warren), Andy Huff* (Northville), Dan Jaroslaw (Mt. Clemens) and Vanessa Sawson (Ferndale), November is directed by Kelly Komlen (Dearborn) with assistance from Michael Hovitch (Ferndale), stage managed by Ryan Fisher (Albion). Planet Ant Theatre will present a remounted production of the award-winning Cancer! The Musical from November 9 through December 15 at the Boll Theatre located inside the downtown Detroit Boll Family YMCA. Throughout the run, a portion of ticket sales will benefit Gilda's Club Metro Detroit.
