Brand New Heavies featuring N'Dea Davenport will be playing select American dates this summer showcasing brand new music to be released in 2016 and 2017. The band plan to release and EP of new material, entitled TBNHND (Ear Music/Edel) as well as the sequel to The Heavy Rhyme Experience Vol. I originally released in 1992. The album featured collaborations with Guru of Gang Starr, Grand Puba, Main Source, and The Pharcyde to name a few and Brand New Heavies will be recording the next volume in New York City next month, announcing collaborators soon. This batch of new music follows 2014's Sweet Freaks.

Chicago Shakespeare Theater (CST) celebrated the global impact of Shakespeare with GALA 2016 at the Theater's home on Navy Pier on the 400th Anniversary of his death-April 23, 2016-a date which also marked the playwright's 452nd birthday.
Last night (23 February 2016) at the Aldwych Theatre the Olivier, Tony and Grammy award-winning Beautiful - The Carole King Musical celebrated its first birthday in the West End. Celebrations included marking the February birthdays of Carole King, Barry Mann and the late Gerry Goffin, as well as the 45th anniversary of when King's Grammy- award winning album Tapestry was released. Directed by Marc Bruni, Beautiful - The Carole King Musical has book by Douglas McGrath with words and music by Gerry Goffin, Carole King, Barry Mann and Cynthia Weil.
On May 24, the Lower East Side Tenement Museum will celebrate its 22nd year as a cultural institution with a gala dinner and live auction. The event will honor stage and screen actress Tovah Feldshuh; her husband, Andrew Levy, whose roots extent to a family-run dry goods store on Rivington Street; and chef Pichet Ong, whose cuisine blends the flavors of his native Southeast Asia with traditional American foods.
